A downgrade from the previous games; a downgrade from a life simulator to a dollhouse. DLC after DLC to milk the audience to the bone by your ever loving EA.

This game is a joke compared to Sims 2 & 3 and even 1. Really EA? 1420€ for all the dlc is a joke, items that should've been included in the packs are sold separately for 5€ EACH. Not to mention a garbage launcher and always online DRM. Play the superior Sims 2 (a 20 year old game btw when devs actually cared) instead of this inferior cash grab.

honestly, every game i play of the sims 4 devolves into some elaborate human trafficking operation where i coerce individuals to live in my basement, steal their money, and write books for the rest of their lives. Somehow it's just unavoidable. almost says something about society if you're one of those "people"

I have such a horrible and toxic love-hate relationship with Sims 4. On one hand, I love the mods that the community offers, and it is probably one of the only things making me and many people come back to this. I love making sims and their homes, and while sometimes I do actually play the game, it happens rarely. The actual gameplay itself is both boring and annoying, boring especially compared to its previous games. I will say, I have not personally played any previous games of the sims, but from what I have seen, the mechanics look far better than the Sims 4. As for the annoying aspect, it takes me SEVERAL tries before my sim finally listens to my command, I understand if there may be a conflict in code or what is happening around the sim, but there are far too many times where they just... don't listen. And there are plenty of glitches in queue itself.
The bugs are ridiculous and it will only keep getting worse with every overpriced dlc they give, because they have the audacity to charge $40 for an "expansion pack," and you would think charging that much for a dlc would actually make something fully playable and a LOT of new content to the game... no, most if not all of the time it is a mediocre pack that brings some interesting content to the game, but also brings so many issues to the game itself (even if you do not have the dlc), and again, all for the price of $40, FOR A DLC.
We also are now getting the login rewards, which I never liked from the beginning, because I am of the belief that login rewards work better on mobile games rather than PC or console games in general. I do appreciate that we can get (somewhat) new items from this, but considering there are just mods you can install for these items... not exactly worth logging in for everyday when you could just install the mod and there you go, you have all the items now, no point logging in everyday or week to make TS4 look like more people are playing the game some more.
There are more issues with the game and the annoying money-grabbing practices EA makes with this, but I will just generally leave it at this. Will I continue playing the sims? sure, but only to play around with mods, make sims and build homes. I can't see this game as being fun unless mods are installed or somehow I could sell a kidney and maybe that will be enough to get me another expansion pack.

They keep pushing expansions and updates so often the game is BROKEN and BUSTED, your save can be corrupted and gone for good unable to be restored. I would not recommend this unless they stop pushing expansions and updates every month or so and fix the bugs in the game.

While entertaining in random bursts, all the additional content and dlc is highly expensive, with several packs individually costing as much as an entire game, many of which are buggy and crash the game. Some packs aren't even entirely clear all the content that they add,making it a little harder to understand what exactly you are getting. That, and some packs completely change core mechanics, not always in positive ways. Since I've already invested so much into this game, I kind of feel like I have to try to play it regularly to justify how much I've spent on it. One specific thing I greatly dislike about just the base game, is that even if you disable the played Sim's autonomy, it doesn't actually work entirely. Your Sim will still perform unwanted actions in conversation, such as mischief actions or singing, even if your Sim is Good, or a Bro. I just feel that, your sim shouldn't randomly choose to do actions that don't even align with their traits to begin with, even if Autonomy is enabled. Sims as a whole is just starting to feel phoned in, with so much new stuff thrown in, not even caring about the state of the game itself.
