To the OP, this game is pretty great but it lacks in other departments that origins excelled in. However if you like combat depth and replayability then this game is the best of the series.
origin is not good. they will make you wait days for a verification email, just so you are able to make an account and load up Dragon Age 2.
i cant play a game i just purchased because the EA servers are always lagging and they really don't give a rats ass about thier customers.
requested a refund after 2 hours of trying to make an Origin account.
But I honestly believe this is the best character story Bioware has made to date. It's a gem that more people need to give a chance. One of my favorites all time. I have it on Origin but contemplating getting it again while it's on sale. Since they don't let you just transfer rights.
I wouldn't bother buying it again because it just uses origin anyways. I DL'd it on Steam where it then made me DL it on origin anyways and origin has to be open to play it, even launch it from origin as it doesn't really work too well doing it from steam.
Either way, in response to OP, it's pretty subjective, this game gets a lot of hate from people and I think that while a lot of their criticism is fair, much of it is just hating the game because it's not exactly like Origins.
Combat is much faster paced and more action oriented that in Origins but you've still got a large skill base and are able to select stats to level up and unlike Inquisition, aren't limited to a small number of skills, being able to have the full hot bar at the bottom.
Lots of location assets are re-used which can get pretty annoying and is one of the mine gripes people have with the game. Some side quests are kinda boring too but most at least tie into the story in ways that make sense and are pretty decent.
Best thing about the DA:II though is the story, I honestly think it's my personal favourite from the trilogy so far. Hawke is a likeable character in their own right (Would really recommend doing a female Hawke because her VA is very, very good). Almost all the companions are good and have decent growth as characters. My favourites being Merill and Varic. Varic really does feel like the MC's best friend and you really do feel with the passage of time that characters grow.
Story is a little more nuanced than the straight good vs evil of the first game as well which makes it more interesting imo.
