Dragon Age II

Dragon Age II

Bypassing the Origin Verification Screen
Hello everyone, like many of you I have been unable to play Dragon Age 2 because the game cannot be verified by the now non-existent EA Origin service.

I have tried many of the solutions I have seen here and elsewhere, such as: reinstalling, using the task manager to stop EA background processes, and even modifying or deleting files from the game's folder. None of this worked for me. What worked for me comes from an EA Answers HQ forum post by community manager EA_Shepard. I will paste their instructions verbatim:
--
First, uninstall the game
EA App's Cache (Top Left Menu > Help > App Recovery)

Delete EA License Files:

Make sure the EA app is closed.
Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER
Enable View Hidden Files and Folders
Delete all files in the "License" folder.

Please clear your temp files:

Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time
Into the new window, type or copy & paste: "%temp%" (Without the quotes.) > hit "ENTER"
Now your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
(If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)

Log back in, and reinstall the game to the default location. If you do not want to uninstall the game, I understand, but you will need to repair the game at least.

If you have more than one drive, please make sure the game and the app are both on the same drive.

These instructions worked for me on Jan. 31, 2025. Where they say "EA App's cache" they are referring to the current EA app that installs with DA2. I am on Windows 10 and did not have to enable hidden files to see the "license" folder but you may have to. I want to emphasize the part about making sure the game and app are on the same drive because mine weren't.

I genuinely hope this works for everyone having this issue.

Cheers.

This allows to ignore Origin/EA app and play without it?
Unfortunately you still have to have the current EA app. This method just bypasses the dead EA Origins app problem that many players are having.
