#40 Leap of Faith?
Solved for all 2 and 3, placed 4 in box 6 and box 9, penciled all other 4's... Hint #7 states 4 cannot go in R3C7, but in solved puzzle, this is exactly where it goes. At this point in the solve, it appears that either location for 4 in Box 3 is valid for all other penciled locations for 4. I'm seeking a LOGICAL step forward and not a leap of faith or luck... any assist on the logic gap closure is appreciated!

Okay - logical step forward from here is to IGNORE the first part of Hint 7 with regards to the placement of 4 in box 3. Instead - pencil 5's in all boxes, but if you start from box 9 and work your way left into box 7 you'll see that 4 is eliminated from R8C2 as it sees all 5's in the box...and the puzzle pretty much tumbles from there! Place 4's, then 5's, 1's, 6's, 7's, and 8 and 9!

I hate to nag, but do you think you could give me help with Puzzle 39 in my thread? Once I solve it, I'll give #40 a shot and let you know if I can gleam anything.

Once I solve #39 I'll check back. It was bugging me so I skipped around. I figured out the way forward on #40 see my post in the thread above. Some of these puzzles are monsters in my mind, but enjoying the mind-bending nonetheless!

Thank you!

I can't find the logic that excludes 4 from R8C2, I still have 5s in R7C23, R8C1 and R9C2. I assume you found a way to get rid of the 5 in R7C3 but my fives in box 7 don't see it (because of the five in R9C5 which I cannot get rid of either...). Any help appreciated.

If you put 4 in R8C2, 5 is in R7C3 and then you can't put 5 in box 9?
A five in row 7 column 3 means you can’t place a five in row 6, leaving only R7C2, R8C1, R9C2 as possible fives in box 7, thus a four cannot go into the middle of the box because there would be no place to put a five, so four must be in R8C2. They must fix the hint saying a four cannot go in R3C7, that will make this puzzle impossible if people are trusting the hints.

fantastic, that did the trick, did not see the 5 was further limited in box 7.

I agree it would be nice if hint #7 could be corrected or removed.
