Hello everyone,

We want to let everyone know where things are at with the Killing Floor 3 closed beta. As of 3 hours ago, keys have started to be sent out in waves to those who filled out the onboarding survey. These are continuing to go out, so please keep an eye on your email and check your spam folder.

PC/Steam:
While the original intent was for this build to also come online tomorrow with the other platforms, it is active now and it will stay live until the end of the beta on the 24th at 11:00 AM EST.

Fans who have pre-ordered the game should no longer have any issues redeeming their beta code on Steam.

Some activities we have seen that you should not do.

• Do not share your code publicly or with somebody else even if it errored out for you. They may be able to redeem it leaving you unable to play in the beta
  
• Do not remove the game from your library (non refund path) to be able to input your beta key, as this will leave you without a product after the beta period ends.

Since its introduction in Killing Floor 2, one of the most defining features of Killing Floor is its next-level M.E.A.T. system (Massive Evisceration and Trauma). Through the power of Unreal Engine 5, Killing Floor 3's M.E.A.T. 2 system has been upgraded to create an even more brutal, immersive, and reactive battlefield. From exploding limbs to persistent blood splatters that never fade, the game ensures every fight is a spectacle of carnage. Let's break down what makes this system special by looking at three distinct gore experiences players will encounter in the heat of battle. But first, a word from one of Killing Floor's original designers:

"M.E.A.T. 2 (Massive Evisceration and Trauma) takes everything great about our original gore system and dials it up. With enhanced persistent blood fidelity and detailed wounds, every shot, slice, burn, and acid splash leaves lasting visible damage. Blast holes into Zeds to expose their inner gore layer, destroy their head and watch it flower open, slice them apart with blades, or burn them with fire. Every attack is dynamically reflected in brutal detail. No two kills look the same, making every encounter a visceral, unforgettable celebration of gore."

Blood, Sweat, and Smears
First things first, let's talk about persistent blood. The bedrock of any gore system.

If you're one of those players who likes to cover anything and everything in zed blood, you're in luck! Every in-game object, including the models for characters and weapons, has a unique "splatter map" that dictates how blood splatters on top of it.

As blood particles make contact with an object, the splatter map responds by increasing the concentration of blood on its surface. Gore objects also have the ability to paint blood dynamically as they collide with objects in the world. Resulting in an incredibly satisfying depiction of how blood can splash, splatter and smear all across floors, walls, weapons, and players in the game.

What's on the Inside
Now that we've covered the blood, let's talk about the guts! Few things are more satisfying than watching a well-placed shot rip an enemy to pieces, and Killing Floor 3 makes this gruesomely detailed.

In Killing Floor 3 every zed is a meat piñata, and you're always at bat. Beneath each zed's menacing exterior damage layer is a programmed inner gore layer that reacts to the environment in countless ways. These two layers work in concert to create satisfying moments where bullets pass through limbs and torsos with dynamic entry and exit wounds, limbs sever at precise damage locations, well-placed headshots give way to disgustingly satisfying head-flowering animations, and more!

As zeds receive high damage, they break apart realistically, triggering the dismemberment, persistent blood, and inner gore layer. Soft tissue like intestines, muscles, and brains smear blood as they fly through the air and make contact with objects and larger zed chunks like limbs and heads tumble and fall with realistic physics..

Every zed in Killing Floor 3 has also been thoughtfully designed to react uniquely to the game's vast weapon arsenal with a litany of different types of wounds. For instance, a sniper round might create a small, precise wound, a shotgun can obliterate weaker zeds in a shower of blood and flesh, and a katana will fillet limbs and heads with the precision of a 5 star chef. Yummy.

Stranger than Affliction
Furthermore, each weapon and damage type has its own custom animations and effects driven by M.E.A.T 2, afflicting the zeds in myriad ways. In Killing Floor 3, you don't just take down zeds—you reduce them to whatever horrific state your situation allows. Freeze a zed and shatter it into chunks of frozen flesh with a single punch. Melt them with acid, watching their skin slough off, exposing muscle and bone. Blast them with a beam of pure energy until their body seizes up and bursts apart. Or blow them up with a grenade, sending viscera flying in all directions. As the saying goes, there are many ways to skin a zed.

Whether you prefer precision or pure chaos, Killing Floor 3 ensures that every kill is as satisfying as it is brutal. No two takedowns look the same, and with every shot, slash, or explosion, you carve your own bloody path through the horde. How you kill is up to you—just know that the zeds won't go down without a fight.
