Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered uses the DirectX Agility SDK, which requires Window 10 version 1909 (Build 18363) or newer. We are seeing multiple reports from people getting error messages even though they have a newer Windows version, for example Windows 11.

This problem might occur when Steam.exe is running in compatibility mode. Please make sure compatibility mode is off:

• Go to steam installation folder. For example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
  
• Right click Steam.exe, go to the Compatibility and make sure it is not enabled
  
• Restart your computer

Some specific revisions of Windows 10 1909, 2004 or 20H2, lack support for the DirectX Agility SDK that is needed use ray-tracing in the game. If you use Windows 1909, the revision number should exceed or be equal to .1350. For Windows 10 Version 2004 and 20H2, the revision number should exceed or be equal to .789. The use of unofficial mods and third-party tools can have a negative effect on game stability, especially in combination with game updates. If you have mods installed and are experiencing problems, removing the mods and third-party tools and then verifying the file integrity of the game on Steam often resolves issues. If you are still experiencing issues, fully uninstalling and then reinstalling the title could work as a last resort.

We certainly recognize that modding is a big part of the PC gaming community and we tip our hats off to all of the creativity that goes into it but be aware that there is no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ support for modding and keep in mind that we are unable to provide technical game support when mods are installed.

As of September 20th, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered features automatic backup saves at key points in the story, usually when a mission is completed. If your current game slot is stuck in an unplayable state, you can return to a backup save instead of starting the game over.

To do this, exit the game and go to the Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered folder that is located inside the Documents folder. In here, you will find a folder with a long number that contains the save files and the backups. To restore a backup, remove the ".backupXX" extension from the filename to overwrite the normal save. So slot0-s.save.backup01 would become slot0-s.save.

Please be aware that overwriting existing save files can result in losing progress. You can backup your own save files by copying them and storing them in another folder, before overwriting any file.
