Amazing game. Out of all souls-like out there, this one stands at the top.
If you love Sekiro and Bloodborne, this is the game for you. This is the perfect combination of Sekiro's parry focused combat and Bloodborne's aesthetics.

Lies of P is an amazing game. Works and runs beautifully on the Steam Deck right off the bat, but drains its battery quickly unless you tinker with the settings for a little bit. A solid 2 hours of game time on the OLED model.

Story:
It has an easy-to-follow story when compared to the likes of FromSoftware titles but has enough complexity and substance to merit itself as thought-provoking and, at some instances, even heartwarming. If someone were to ask for a FromSoft game recommendation, I could definitely tell them to try out Lies of P, and they would never know the difference lol.

Gameplay:
The meat and potato is definitely the combat. It has this deflecting mechanic just like in Sekiro and a rallying mechanic like in Bloodborne. The only difference is that the deflecting window is so small in Lies of P that it demands a perfectly timed guard. While the rallying mechanic only applies when you guard an incoming attack because you will be taking chip damage from it. I'll be honest, this type of play style is not for the faint of heart. It requires your full attention, practice, and a decent reading with enemy attacks. Good thing the game doesn't force you to stick with just one approach to combat. The tried-and-tested iframe dodge is still exploitable and relevant. A perfect mix between deflecting and dodging will definitely help you, especially through endgame.

Soundtrack:
Tbh, I never paid enough attention to the music because it's hard to focus on anything other than staying alive during boss fights, but there are definitely some bangers, especially boss themes. I had to resort to listening to them separately on Youtube just to appreciate the soundtrack more lol. The musical score of Lies of P is definitely up there with the Soulsborne titles.

In conclusion, I would not recommend Lies of P to people who are looking for their first souls-like game because of how difficult it is even compared to Sekiro, but if you're up for a challenge then by all means. It is by far the best souls-like that I have experienced that's not even made by the godfather Miyazaki himself. Neowiz and Round8 Studio definitely crafted a work of art, and I can't wait to see how they will cook another one up in the future.
