Are all storage units interconected?

If that's the case can I have every bio fuel converter just in one place with one storage unit and save space in the farms? and is the vertical farm bigger or it is just the impression?

The vertical farm has 1106 build-able slots. The horizontal farm has 1104. The vertical farm is 14 slots across while the horizontal is only 8 high. The vertical farm feels more compact to me and it was easier to make use of the bots' range of service. But the amount of build-able space visible on your screen without scrolling is probably similar for both, depending on your screen size and your zoom settings.
