Would this work since it uses Ubisoft Connect? Wouldn't it unlock the achievements each time the game is launched?

The achievements may pop automatically if you already played it on Ubi Connect (like I did, 4 times lol), but the save doesn't transfer over so you get to replay it all again like a fresh start.

The saves transferred for me :s
I was met with a "continue" button, with my progress on it "89% completion" on the main menu

No idea. I've never actually done this before because well... I've never had a reason to. But resetting steam achievements is a frequent discussion for many games on steam, reddit, you name it. There's probably a lot of tutorials on youtube as well

Damnit, it did not work. Ubisoct Connect is too intrusive.

Worth a try. Unfortunately Ubi is a bit touchy when it comes to their games and the concept of 'ownership' has been somewhat redefined.

I wouldn't call it an ownership thing, it's just their spaghetti coding that doesn't allow for progress reset for some reason. Such a simple thing a little "reset" button with an "are you sure" prompt. EZPZ

Perhaps a bit of an oversimplification but it actually does relate to ownership and... control.

Ubisoft connect is their platform, ergo their rules. They own your game regardless if you paid for it and they are fiercely protective of any and all intellectual property belonging to them. Rumours circulate regularly of Ubisoft being anti-mod, since their games are notoriously difficult to mod because they encrypt their files. Something I didn't used to give credence to until recently.

Ubi is also not a fan of 'game sharing' and especially not account sharing (sharing your credentials is a breach of Ubi's terms of use). They also have strict protocols when it comes to transferring games between accounts. Even their rules about linking platforms are bizarre. Say you link your Ubi account to Steam account A. Unlinking is acceptable, but linking Ubi account to Steam account B, is not allowed. Re-linking to Steam account A is fine though.

So yeah Ubi is basically a massive control freak.

Haven't tried it yet but maybe if you can get ubi connect into offline mode before launching the game, maybe the achievements won't sync and you can have a fresh start

Mine didn't even pop properly. I have the achievements for beating the later sequences, but not the earlier ones. Steam seems to think I just skipped the opening hours entirely

As far as I know it's not possible to not sync. I have the launcher settings at "disabled cloud sync" but it still syncs up. And the launcher doesn't have an "offline mode".

Sadly it's not possible. Offline mode or not, once the achievements are unlock for a Ubi account, that's it. Per now, you need a new account if you want a fresh start.
