Is Artificer actually that bad?
Ok, I know my profile picture might hint at some bias, but listen up.
The main three criticisms for Artificer are:
-Combat with scavengers is poopity doopity
-The story feels less rewarding than other characters
-(More recently people say) She gets developer favoritism in her moveset and chosen one arc

I refute with four points of my own:
- The point is to feel the struggle and to get into the anger she has to feel to put herself through the poor decisions of scavenger killing.
- The story is meant to be worthless. Mindless slaughter goes directly against the games morals, and the ending feels pretty unrewarding. Consequentially this makes the ending better, looking back and asking if it was worth it is the point.
-Five Pebbles is more or less just a quest-giver, and he does the same "go to objective to unlock ending" in Rivulet and Gourmand. Moon does so for Spearmaster too.
-Finally, the moveset is nothing to cry about because it supports the gameplay style of the artificer: high octane action. Rivulet needs to be maneuverable, Spearmaster needs to be versatile (scavenger trading, infinite wall climbing, and permanent weapons), and Gourmand needs to be fat. Artificer has to be able to escape danger quickly with her fast speed and jumps, defuse close proximity situations with the maul and boom, and has to have weapons to deal with scavengers. Also bomb making requires food (which means you could lose hunger until you can't hibernate if you are careless.)

Overall, the scavengers are meant to be annoying, the story should be mid, you ain't the chosen one, and the moveset fits the character.

Edit: The one fair criticism is that she carries no story items, and yeah, you right. But it'd also be hard to do with how she makes grenades.

Edit 2: This argument is now useless and the thread will be locked as so many have proved many of my points wrong, or are too stupid to agree aver no matter how much arguing you do. To the few with constructive opinions, thx but you were majorly drowned out by the more angry arguers.

Edit 3: I forgot to lock the thread for like a week, and everyone is seemingly calmed down, so the post will stay, yahooo.

The thread about her getting Developer favoritism is largely a troll thread. There are valid criticisms to be made about artificer but "Developer Favoritism" isn't one of them.

Yeah, don't worry, most people here are generally cool when it comes to people willing to engage in good faith discussion.

i don't really have any criticisms of her campaign per se. i have a real problem with the scavengers' obnoxious aimbot skills, but that issue isn't specific to her campaign - it's just way more prevalent in it (for obvious reasons). i personally don't enjoy Arti's campaign, but i actually think it's pretty well put-together.

i understand the complaint that Arti can't ascend even if you don't kill the Chieftan and that the words of the Metropolis echo urging her to "find a way out" thus fall flat, but i personally enjoyed the tragedy of her story. i don't feel like there's supposed to be that much emphasis on player choice.
The map is ♥♥♥♥, literally ♥♥♥♥, horrible, literally impossible to navigate in my opinion.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, not my problem some people decided to trash it. It started just fine, but because of drama that heat up to unesesary proportions - it was no longer about topic, but just arguing about personal issues.
All the starting points were valid or at least debatable from different players perspective (but wasn't trolling, not even slightest) , but because of drama, people dismiss and call it trolling out of spite.

True, too bad other slugcats carrying quest didn't get the same treatment.
Hunter if he decide to carry both pearl and neuron. It makes combat harder and not able to use double throw boosting in Sky islands and Chimney canopy. But biggest victim of forced to carry quest items by hand is Spearmaster - practically eliminating his greatest strenght of double spear wielding, considering he doesn't have mouth to store quest pearl - it handicap so much, making campaign so much harder than it should have been.

I'm literally running into this right now. Just started the hunter campaign and the jumping in sky island is so obnoxious with that obnoxious neuron. One jump specifically lol.

The majority of the map is far easier to navigate with the boomjump, only GW and WF are difficult to get around.

If I remember you started exploding at someone because you disliked their formatting and ended up getting banned for it. As well as just in general being very hostile and refusing to acknowledge their points seriously,

This type of behavior destroys your credibility and makes you look like a troll, and with good reason, as this is far from being good-faith conduct.

You guys are hijacking this thread to argue about that thread. I don't think you need to worry about credibility.

Why are people so desperate to start arguments in this forum!?

They are more interested in drama as if it gonna change anything by reigniting it. Topic was closed, so it shouldn't matter anymore.
(Throwing jesters shows how pity they are. Only proving my point they want drama instead leaving things behind)

Yeah her story has a lot of emphasis on the tragedy of her situation.

yeah, ultimately hers is an emotional story about an angry, grieving mother who just can't let go of her dead children. given what happened it would feel a bit odd if she did just get over it imo.
