Alright, with that out of the way, A Game About Digging A Hole is done and dusted. I think it's safe to say that this game has captured the interest and imagination of players around the globe. And even though you can't dig a hole to China or the U.S., you will be digging for a grandiose treasure said to be waiting in the depths of the yard you'll be digging in.

The story set up is pretty simple. Some unnamed soul put up a "for sale" sign for the very house you will coincidentally be buying, lol. And talk about an amazing deal! They only want $10k for it and you are informed that there is also buried treasure in the back yard. So excited were you at the thought of buying a house for the price of a dozen eggs (in today's market), that you failed to notice the numbers scratched into the for sale sign. Why have so many people moved out of this idyllic house?

And so, with your house secured and some special digging equipment in hand, it's time to get to digging. Conveniently, there is a big "X" painted onto the grass, and so you don't need to guess as to where you will start digging. You do have a special powered shovel to ease the burden of digging. But you need to be careful. If it runs out of power, it will explode. Nobody wants to see that happen. And, you also have a special metal detector that detects treasure and lost objects instead of metals when close enough.

Additionally, your garage/work room is outfitted with a computer to sell the different stones, gems, and metals you find. You also have a computer to buy and upgrade gear. Said gear is your trusty shovel, the battery capacity for your shovel, your backpack size (carrying capacity), and a jet pack as well! I guess that hole is gonna be every bit as deep as I implied earlier. You will also use this computer to heal yourself and refill your shovel's power bank. Last but not least, you can buy both dynamite and mining lights there as well. And to round things out, there is a book in your garage which functions as your manual save point.

So, what are you waiting for? Get to digging!

The actual gameplay is pretty addictive. In addition to the digging and gathering materials to sell, which is already awesome; your jetpack also handles perfectly and is also pretty satisfying to use. But most important, your diggy diggy hole activities just got much easier after you purchase your third upgrade for your shovel. At that point, it switches from diggy digging to straight up Hoovering dirt and objects. I gotta say, that feels really good in use. Just don't stick your hand in front of it or put it on your cheek to check its sucking ability. Or wherever you were thinking of putting it... Don't do it. Resist the temptation.

That's honestly the majority of the game until you actually reach the area where said buried treasure lies. There is a nice little surprise waiting for you down there. :)

Oh, one final note. The game tracks your actions, but most achievements don't actually drop until you start NG+, where any cheevos you've earned will all drop at once.

What's this game cost? $4.99? That's exactly the correct price. Only a minority of players are going to feel like their money was not well spent. You might be in said minority, but I doubt it. It's a fun and ridiculous game that took me a little under six hours to complete, but I also spent a lot of extra time widening out my hole in ways no hole was ever meant to be widened out. By that, I mean I also dug under the patio a bit. Absolutely worth a look. Fun and casual times await.

Besides that....digging a hole. Yea. Game Of the year!

game was very short, finished in about an hour and a half, but i had fun while doing it. Was a charming little dig, do wish there was a bit of expansion on what seems to be the little lore there was in the game, as the ending came way out of left field for me personally. Overall i had fun, will be interested to see if this game gets updated at all.

This game is as genuine as it sounds. You dig holes. It's great! It just feels weirdly soothing to do so. You click, you dig a hole, you click again, you dig another hole & so on. The more holes, the more you obtain. You sell/buy upgrades/click & create bigger holes. :^) It's actually amazing & such a low price.

Now go buy this game and then continue to beg the developer for MORE because we NEED it.

"A Game About Digging A Hole" is short, sweet, and simple. You dig, find stuff, sell it, and upgrade your gear. The short nature of the game can also be a downside since you can max out your equipment in about an hour. It could use more content like co-op (if possible), new maps, new powerful tools, maybe some side activities to keep things interesting. Not saying the game needs unnecessary fluff, but a few extra features never hurt anyone. All things considered, I had a blast with the game… until I got absolutely bullied by those damn moles.

Fun game for the price, I beat it in 3 hours, worth the 6 bucks. Scratches a part of my brain, that needed it =)

You made elf engage in dwarf behavior. How dare you. Good game, weird "plot".

I didn't know that Digging a hole would be that fun.
