TDLR;

Audio bug when putting down headset to go pee/standby mode no mic.

Current fix. Restart VRChat, Headset, and steam. Reconnect and launch, problem fixed.

Long Workaround, sadly need to be enlightened

Working with Win 10 and Quest 2 via steam link.

Steam VR launched in OpenXR (in line with headset sending issues/infinite "Next Pavlov" bug. not sending to headset and only appearing on desktop. Same issues apprently in Beat Sabre) in Pavlov. Working with the current/up to date beta of SteamVR and Steam PC.

Had the audio problem with setting the streaming mic and then maxing out the volume on the steam UI (bottom left on steam VR menu through steam link) and maxing out on sound settings.

However, when you take the headset off (to go to the loo or something). The mic disconnects and I have resorted to a full headset reset and restart of steam, with a reload of VRChat to get back in.

Tried fixes:

- Went into head set menu (Steam Link) and tried to set audio device for input in headset. No selection menu appeared. Just a "Select device" bar and "Done" with no change.

- Tried the Steam VR Tab on desktop (little square that shows devices connected/trackers/etc). 3 little dots. went into settings. Similar UI to the steam link in headset. Tried to chance devices. No joy

- went into Steam PC desktop actual and tried to configure audio through the steam PC app. No joy.

- changed audio device in VRChat to oculus headset and streaming mic. No Joy.

All audio setting toggled and default devices swapped from oculus headset and streaming mic for each attempted fix. Audio input levels from mics maxed out and enabled, both app and windows side.

Needless to say, it's a bit frustrating. I am guessing it only requires a full restart of Steam Link, Steam and VRChat; but I went for the nuclear option for a reliable fix. But have not fully worked through it yet. Next time it happens, I will see what can be done.

Any help welcome.

thats a windows problem, it often cannot chagne audio device for games/apps that are running

whatever is trying to use the streaming speakers will need to be closed and run again

I will try a headset reset next time and see if it fixes the issue.
A few things I am wondering -

1. Pavlov / Beat Saber - you may have another OpenXR Runtime that is set to your system default - you can fix it by going into SteamVR settings via the ≡ button in the top-left of SteamVR on your Desktop. Go under "OpenXR" and select "SET STEAMVR AS OPENXR RUNTIME" for your system.

2. What if you only restart the headset but do not exit Steam Link, SteamVR or VRChat. Then reconnect to a current session. Be sure that when your boot your headset, the microphone icon on the Meta dashboard is shown in grey.

3. What happens if you adjust the volume using the speaker button -> mic slider in the SteamVR dashboard down, then back up to 100%?

I will test and report back next time I am on!

I didn't manage to do the bug testing required, however I did discover a work around!!!

For some reason, if you put the broadcast out on the little screen that comes out below the steam VR pop-up thing (the one that shows trackers etc) that shows what your headset is looking at, no problems at all. When putting back on the headset it resumes the broadcast without issue!

Sorry to be a bad bug tester, but now working without issue!
I'm having this issue on Q2. Putting the headset into sleep mode will result in no audio being received in the headset.

I think it's an issue within the app itself, as no amount of disabling or reenabling audio devices on the PC side both from within SteamVR and Windows will fix it.

VRChat running natively on the quest itself has a similar problem.
