Cool!

But I will be happier if we have options to auto-update to "betas" and "alphas" there.
Pte Jack 12 Aug, 2020 @ 2:25pm
Yeah that would be nice, however, Alpha and Betas change on nightly builds. I think it would just be too much to keep up with administratively for the dev team here.

I know I would not want Blender updating every time I logged into Steam because the program was updated at midnight after the day's development and rebuild.

Beside if things stick to schedule, we should have 2.90 in about 10 days from now anyway.

~10 days from now = 31st of August. Pretty nice mirror-effect when you look at the date Pte Jack posted (13th of Augst).

WOW, I expected that Blender.org would meet the target of 22 Aug, but find that it was released today (31 August) there as well...

Great Job on getting the new release out on the same day guys!! I thought there might be a little lag on the Steam release.

We try to have the binaries uploaded around the same time :)

It's also nice to see that the process is going to work for roll back as well. Wasn't sure how you were going to handle the LTS side of the house.

I guess if ppl want to stick with 2.83LTS, then they can just roll back and stay there until they're ready to move forward.

Not sure how the update affected the Beta opt-in though. I was planning on having one of my systems rolled back to 2.79b with the opt-in process before 2.90 rolled out to see if the update would kick the opt-in version out. But I missed it...

If you are on 2.79b then you wouldn't receive the update to 2.90. You have to opt-out of betas, or pick the 2.90 branch :)
