Fallout 4
Assigning Brahmin
Hey. Got 1 brahmin in my settlement. Workshop mode states it is unassigned. What do I assign it to? Thanks.

You don’t really assign it to anything just put a Brahmin feeding trough down and it will eat from it producing fertilizer over time.
They are like dogs and cats and cannot be assigned to a designated work. However if you place Brahmin, cat, dog bowls or feeding tubs they will mostly circle around that location.
Be careful....

Many Brahmin that show up in your settlements are Synths!!!

Turn it into burger, just to be safe.
"many" :)

I've seen like 2 ever, but yeah, they might spawn as synths.

And they may also, on rare occasions, spawn as the settlement leader to whom you must 'speak' to get hostage or other radiant missions from.
Thanks guys/ladies for the tips.

I really though the apocalypse would put an end to that synthetic food bs.

More proof they are all synths!!!!
REAL brahmin don't speak!

:D
To be clear they will produce fertiliser (up to a cap) and increase crop levels regardless of not being assigned and regardless of whether you build troughs. The troughs just help keep them in one area (eg a protected and/or defended area).

All my years I didn’t realize that.

Well at least it keeps them out of the way if nothing else.
I vastly prefer the wooden feed trough that Nuka World added to the bathtub version from the standard game (which appears in the Nuka World decorations section for Dry Rock Gulch).

It seems to work just like the regular feed trough since the brahmin head to it and feed, but I mostly ignore them in my games, so I can't say for certain if the trough's effect also covers the normal settlement influences.

Don't the settler's turn hostile and start attacking you if you kill a Brahmin?👀😅
They do, yes. They'll calm down a bit if you wander away for a couple days, but like. You killed their burger. Only they get to do that.

Just part of the anti-brahmin, anti-sympathiser loot cycle.

Kill Synth Brahmin.
Synth Sympathisers get mad.
Kill Synth Sympathisers.
Loot Synth Sympathisers corpses.
Plant corpses in veggie field.
Place "help wanted" notice back on radio.

Repeat.
I wonder if synth brahmin can serve as the trigger for synth settlement attacks (which require a hidden synth to be present for them to occur). Then again, I don't know if the attack is supposed to be an effort to retrieve a discovered infiltrator or to reclaim a Railroad synth, since the latter wouldn't make sense for brahmin.
