🐧💻 Why Valve should drop TF2's support from Windows in favor of Linux
Hey TF2 Gamers,

Today I'd like to explore a fascinating idea with you all; whether or not Valve should drop Windows support for TF2 in favor of Linux; here's why I think it would make sense...

1. Performance boost; Linux tends to run better, with even greater selections of hardware, than the same hardware would ever run on Windows. This could solve the evercoming issue of TF2's struggles to perform on newer hardware.

2. Privacy and security; Linux has a priority for privacy and security over Windows, and by changing their stance to exclusively support Linux, TF2's playerbase will know that their data is safe and respected by Valve.

3. Sustainability; Linux has already been proven to be a lifesaver for many systems running older hardware. As the looming threat of newer hardware becoming less and less compatible with TF2 approaches, exclusively focusing on Linux would be a great idea -- as Valve's own official gaming computer runs on their own Linux distribution!

4. Promote technical skills; A great portion of TF2's community runs off of what the community produces with their know in tech, such as custom maps and cosmetics. With Linux, technical know-how is encouraged and promoted, and a new golden era of TF2 community content could awaken.

While there'd be some challenges to overcome, the benefits of Valve switching to Linux would be greatly lucrative for the TF2 community.

What do you think?

If you read my post, you'd see actual reasons -- therefore, not bait.

only good reason in my book is that it'd filter all the kids who can't bother installing an OS different from a windows. everything else is worthless.

yeah i'm in. ♥♥♥♥ children (figuratively).

No they wouldn't, they could just switch to Linux. Switching operating systems doesn't wipe your progress.

I have a better idea, how about we shut up and stop caring about what os we use instead.
Please, not again. We've had enough Linux slop in these forums. Just let both OSes co-exist.

Screw Windows 11 though. I prefer operating systems over live service.

I can just imagine seeing all the 10 year olds complaining that TF2 won't work on their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ operating system anymore.

Screw Windows in general, Windows 10 included. Both are telemetry laden and proprietary software.
Windows fell off hard after 7 tbh
