The Nuke, Nuked: A Tale Of How One Man Became Too Zesty
In nature of keeping up good spirits, let me preface this entire thing by saying I generally respect Zesty a great deal, both his genuine passion for the game and basic human rights and a lot of the things he says in general. His outspoken criticisms of the company, the workshop, the toxic positivity culture, generally any matter relating to taste if we exclude his rather "unique" preferences in women, his commitment to integrity and honesty and especially note-worthy, his magnum opus, a data-driven video on the bot crisis, among many other things. But a man is a sum of ideas, and his latest one isn't one worthy of particular respect.

The video in question:

Edit: Me and Smoke implemented solutions to some of the problems he pointed out in our TF2 Rework file: TF2 Rectified. As always, we are grateful for his contributions.

That is a very telling anecdote you shared with us.

Not to derail the thread but I don't see him supporting very many basic human rights. Last I checked he was actually against some of those, but who knows things could've changed since the last time I've checked.

Sure thing, go play another match on those castrated uncletopia servers where a bunch of features from original game was just removed. It’s sure would reflect how original game should be played
shush

Well tbf I don't follow him on twitter, but from what I've seen he's somewhat of a proponent for the most fundamental human right of them all, freedom of speech. That does not, indeed, exclude any transgressions he may or may have not done on others that I'm not familiar with.

I actually don't like playing on uncletopia, I hate the idea of a scramble and the chat not being free. I play there extremely rarely, despite the improved match balance.

In the interest in avoiding a political debate as well as not derailing the thread, I would like to leave you with the statement that, while I disagree on your stance regarding the freedom of speech, you are still allowed to have that stance.

I wouldn't mind a political debate if you'd like to add me, but thanks for being considerate of the thread, it actually shows good character.

Okay, sorry for misjudge.

I read your second comment (line 8). tf2 in fact can be a silly game on par with garry's mode (if you skeptical of zesty argumentation look into old tf2 dev commentary ingame), main gem of tf2 is that with big team sizes and long lasting games you could have sweaty and silly players on one server at the same time, and you don’t need specialized server to goof around. All you needed is sandwich and free spot on a map. And now by design of casual ruleset game would literally end before players would figure out that you are friendly and want to spark a party. It’s not okay to force players to compete like casual does. By enforcing one way of play you make it worse for everyone else.
And I don't see a benefit in mmr matchmaking with short game, long wait requeue in the such fun and silly game as tf2.

Alternative is using full pledges pro-mod community servers if you really want to compete and leaving feature rich core game alone.

I could agree that video is really long which makes is less accessible, and in my opinion Chapter “Our Prime” Is well put as unbiased as its gets part about the history of tf2 before casual. Which I would recommend to watch for new players. Its short (30 minutes) and could give players solid perspective on what game was before casual and not just valve pleaser, uncle dane appeaser pink tinted glasses excuse that people tend to say

Apology accepted m8.

It can be a silly game, but the sillines is a far more minor focus than in Garry's mod.

I've oftened likened it to people saying they're playing chess by riding a bike on the chessboard. Being friendly and crouching in a corner is that, and I'm saying ride the bike around the park, on the bike lanes, where that's the purpose.

Expecting people to play the objective or kill each other is the bare minimum the game should ask of you, no sweat needed. Mmr does not inherently make the game sweaty.

If I had the editing prowess I reckon I could fit his entire video in one hour very comfortably, and even less if we're sticking only to the points.
