🐧💻 Why Valve should drop TF2's support from Windows in favor of Linux: A Continuation
Howdy-doo TF2 Gamers,

After my previous thread on this subject was locked after getting derailed, I decided to write a follow-up post offering fresh perspectives on this controversial issue. I think it’s important to keep diving into the potential benefits, and explore how Valve could make this transition.

Better Optimized Game Updates and Patch Cycles:

One thing that’s always been a struggle with Windows is how it deals with system updates and compatibility with older builds. Linux offers much more flexibility and control over system updates, allowing for a much more consistent gaming experience without random crashes due to a new Windows update interfering with TF2’s functionality. If Valve shifts to Linux, they can better control and optimize the patch cycle, leading to faster, more reliable updates.

Longevity of the Game:

Windows, while popular, has always faced questions about its future viability, especially when you consider how much focus is placed on Windows-based gaming (e.g., the push towards the Xbox ecosystem). Valve, by embracing Linux, would not only ensure a healthier, more stable future for TF2 but also help set a standard for long-term support on an open, free platform. This could lead to TF2 becoming a prime example of how games can thrive on Linux, and potentially inspire other developers to do the same.

Cost Savings for Valve:

Windows licenses and the cost of maintaining support for a proprietary OS could also be taking a toll on Valve. By fully embracing Linux, Valve could save on these licensing costs, and also benefit from Linux's flexibility in server infrastructure, making it easier to maintain the game’s online services. This, in turn, could allow them to allocate resources elsewhere — such as improving the TF2 experience itself or funding new features for the game.

What do you all think? Could Valve be the pioneer to bring Linux gaming into the mainstream with TF2 at the forefront?

very good points as always truffle!
I honestly agree. I'm tired of playing with Windows users who's systems are too slow to keep up with me in-game.

Why would I do that? Without windows, then burglars can come in my house (through the nonexistent windows) and take my FreeBSD.

I have to say that I'm a windows user, and I'm doing my part by locking my windows PC up all the time in service to my superior Linux masters.

Windows users EXIST to serve LINUX.

Human beings in a Mob (Windows)
What's a Mob to a King? (Linux)
What's a King to a God? (FreeBSD)
What's a God to a Non-Believer? (People who go outside)

This can cause Valve to lose sales for TF2 as not everybody wants to use linux. Also, what's with everyone saying switching to linux. I KEEP SEEING THESE MESSAGES EVERYWHERE.

because you deserve to not be tortured by your operating system. Windows is proprietary slop and nobody deserves to go through the pain required to use it. You owe it to yourself to use a GNU/Linux distro that actually respects you rather than Microsoft's garbage operating system.

How good is linux by the way since people always recommend it these days.

What money does Valve even get from TF2 anymore?

As someone who just started to use linux, No. Let people use whatever they want. I'm tired of your stupid one-trick-pony ass gimmick. So shut up and leave already. I'll say it first, no one cares about what operating system you use(or what you don't use lmao[imgur.com]), and spamming the same message isn't going to make anybody agree with you. If you're baiting, find new material, because everyone is tired of this thread. If you're somehow being genuine with this, I'll tell it to your face, stop doing this. Making the same thread for a billion times makes people take you less and less seriously every time. Please shut up, because everyone is tired of you(everyone that aren't your alt accounts anyway(don't even try to deny that, its blatant to anyone with eyes)).
