Advise required

Hi guys. I am and old gammer, Strategy games are my thing. I know how to go through hard strategy games, but I don't understand ToW2.
First mission playing on the allied side, I have to defend a small town with 4 old tanks and 2 infantry units. The AI sends me waves after waves of German Tanks, I can't defend the town.
Second mission I have to stop Germans from going through 2 valleys, it gives me 4 cannons, 4 tanks and like 3 infantry units, I never have a clue from where the enemy will come, or if I have to move towards them, I always end up with my tanks wrecked by other tanks and 2 infantry soldiers running across the whole map.

Basically, I feel like the game sends me way more units than I am capable of defend against. No options for reinforcements, only one airplane attack available from time to time. I feel like a compass without a north right now. I play the game but I lose and skip every single time.

What am I doing wrong?

Tbh Idk either i played every mission for every faction in Theatre of war (the first instalation of this game) and I fail almost every mission on "Novice + morale" on this game. I think this is where the balancing mod might come in. I dont have the mod myself so I dont know wether it changes any missions, but I sure hope it does.
