I feel bad giving Tokaido a thumbs down because it's not a bad game. The visuals are nice, the art is pretty, and it's quite lovely to travel up the Eastern road of Japan collecting various traditional Japanese souvenirs, food, and art. However as a game it's just... boring. I get that it's supposed to be relaxing, which it is. But there's a line between relaxing and uneventful. I had the physical board game and sold it because it felt so slow. Bought the digital game thinking I was missing something that made it more interesting or some aspect of gameplay I wasn't doing correctly. But it's just... blah. I think kids and people who aren't familiar with Japanese culture would appreciate this more.
