The HD version might not be up on Steam yet, but it's definitely odd for GOG to get something first. For what it's worth, I checked the size of the depots and it's much larger on GOG, so there is definitely a big difference.

GOG: X-Blades HD (Windows only) = 4.5 GB
Steam: X-Blades (Windows) = 2.33 GB
Steam: X-Blades (Linux) = 2.89 GB
Steam: X-Blades (Mac) = 2.83 GB

Also, on GOG, the soundtrack is MP3+WAV, whereas on Steam, it's only MP3. The Digital Deluxe content looks to be the same (based on depot sizes).
sometimes GOG is the main one to get older games
but with this being newer, odd it has yet to be added to steam
shall have to research and see if its been added to the database

gog usually does compatibility work among other things to games on there store
were as in steams a release and set it free, as valve mainly just handles the storefront and client

https://steamdb.info/app/7510/
nope not even in the database, maybe gog worked on it some?

Hmm seem interesting

The only difference was the size of the ogg file lol
If you prefer no block noise, use the GOG version.

Was there texture changes, or is it the same thing? Also no block noise? You mean they remove block sound effect?

Everything else was the same except for the lack of block sound effects.

Just saw that! I'm lol!!!!! Played this game waaaaay back! It's OK but not really good. I'm surprised! The "sequel" blades of time was a better game but as cheesier as this one.

What block noise???
ForestDragon 20 Dec, 2022 @ 12:21pm
Anyway itt looks same as the steam version. Maybe the videos are a bit upscaled. But at least it's DRM free! And there is cloud saves.

So is GOG Database wrong about the size? Is the total size not 4.5 GB? I can't imagine that differences in OGG files totaled the 2.17 GB difference between what GOG Database shows for the size and what SteamDB does, so either there were other differences as well or GOG Database was wrong about the size (or SteamDB is wrong, but that means SteamDB would have to be wrong about all 3 depots).

Before I posted my original message, I did look at the promo screenshots on GOG and Steam and didn't see much difference other than borders and slight color differences, which leaves me to believe the main difference is in the cutscenes.

So I reconfirm myself what they did, didn't go far into the game, but I started comparing files, the only thing they changed file end was just the videos, the only upscale the cut scense videos to make it little better & colour tuning at the least from what I can tell, I'm not a video expert but feel like they ran video via AI upscaler that it.
Steam: 1280 x 720 videos
GoG: 1920 x 1080 videos

Everything else is same, same audio files, same textures, same shaders, and so on, there nothing HD about the game besides just the video cut scenes that it.

-edit-
Updated screenshots to show video via screenshots side by side, using SD and HD tag each one hope this helps.

The Steam version is already DRM-free, you can literally launch it in a different folder/PC and it won't bug you for Steam log-in. I would know because I have the original version on Steam; installed it, shut Steam down, launched it directly from its executable and it plays.
