Void Bastards is a roguelike space shooter with a comic book art style, full voice acting, and dark humor.

The ship Void Ark crashes after a pirate attack. The onboard AI begins waking up inmates as "Clients," one at a time from cryosleep, and sending them on missions — to gather various resources for repairing the ship and obtaining the necessary documents for flight to the destination. Gather resources on various abandoned spaceships, inhabited by mutated citizens and equipped with ship defense systems.

When an inmate dies, they are replaced by another, each with unique strengths and weaknesses, adding variety to the gameplay. The game features genetic buffs and debuffs that can help or hinder survival.

Since the main game has no melee attack, ammo plays a crucial role, along with fuel and food, which are necessary for flight. You can also spend materials to craft weapons, armor, and various gadgets, as well as recycle resources to gather specific parts.

Despite the fact that the game can feel repetitive over time, I still think it's underrated overall.

I really like this game a lot. Somehow a roguelite where you infiltrate a spaceship can be fun. Like seriously, I never thought this will be my favourite game until I played it.

I found this game quite fun with a unique take on the FPS genre. I enjoyed the rogue-like progression, stealth and combat, looting and strategy. I like how each ship you go on is random with different room types that each have a purpose which forces me to adapt my tactics for each ship. The story and its narrator is a bit cheeky, while also being tragic.
