Help! My LSFG overlay keeps freezing, forcing me to restart my PC

Hi everyone!

I haven't been using LSFG for very long, but I've already run into a problem: after a while, the LSFG overlay just freezes. It locks up completely, and you can’t close it—even via Task Manager. The only solution is to restart the computer.

Meanwhile, the game keeps running—you can switch via ALT-TAB and still hear the audio—but the display freezes. I've tried various settings and even considered that the game might be the culprit, but no luck.

I first noticed this issue in X3 mode with LSFG 3.0, but now the screen freezes in 2X mode too. Here are my current settings:

Resolution Scale: 100
Capture API: DXGI
Scaling Type: FSR (without optimized version)
Scaling Mode: Auto and FullScreen
I also tried turning off the FPS display, but that didn’t help.

Multi-Display Mode: Off

Setup:

CPU: R7 5700x3d
RAM: 32GB 3200MHz
GPU: 4070 12GB
All drivers and Windows are updated to the latest versions.

Other overlays are disabled. I tested this on Escape From Tarkov and PoE 2. Both games are running in windowed (borderless) mode.

I used to get this a while ago, haven't had an instance for a long time now though - easily months - and if I'm mistaken then it's really rare - but in all my cases I could just hit the scaling hotkey to disable scaling and I'd be fine. It was confusing at first but when I realised it was LS being finicky I just got in the habit of hitting the scaling hotkey twice to disable and re-enable scaling. Thankfully I don't experience this much if ever these days.

Thank you! But unfortunately, when it freezes, I've tried disabling scaling using hotkeys and by clicking on "Unscale"—nothing happens. Even if I kill the process via Task Manager, the application closes, but the LSFG overlay remains frozen.

I've only managed to force it to shut down a couple of times without having to restart the computer, and I still don't understand what exactly happened.

Has anyone else encountered something similar or have any idea what might be causing these freezes? EFT without LSFG is simply unplayable, and we're probably not going to see DLSS FG anytime soon :D
