It's my understanding LS1 can outdo in-game scaling for quite a few titles, though where I feel LS really shines are 2D games (they tend to have poor scaling that can distort or overly blur pixels, and for certain games Anime4K can do a treat), and 3D games that lack any DLSS or FSR support. In those cases, LS provides some very valuable options for getting a nice and performant image out of a game.
(Deliberately ignoring that Snapdragon upscaling option, as I haven't heard much about it personally. Maybe it's better than LS1, maybe it isn't.)
Space Detective explained that already. It's up to you to decide if it's worth it: "Just look at the game with its built-in scaling and determine if you're happy with the results from both a visual and performance standpoint."
I have a 1440p monitor with a 1920p DLDSR desktop resolution, and I run certain games at 1440p Windowed with DLSS plus LS scaling (SGSR) to get it back to fullscreen. Besides a good image quality I also get good "free" sharpening.
okay so you would say its usefull even if the game has scaling itself not just for old games that doesnt.
I'm saying that it can be useful under the right circumstances. And it's a question of personal preference. There's no "right" or "wrong" here, simply use the method that gives you good results. Feel free to experiment.
BUT important question will the quality take massive hit or will it be like any other DLSS how much do i sacrifice
As I said before: "question of personal preference" and "feel free to experiment". Try it and form your own opinion.
You could run the games at 1440p windowed/non-fullscreen borderless and scale them back with LS to fullscreen 4k, and it'll look great.
