The Nydian people have finally won a decades-long independence struggle. Now what?

Long an ethnic minority ruled by the powerful Steinard Kingdom, the Nydians have finally earned their independence after 18 years of bloodshed. Now a free people, the 'Founding Fathers' who orchestrated the rebellion have determined what kind of nation they will be. Entrusting a hero of the revolution to rule as a monarch, their vision was later overturned by popular will to abolish the Nydian noble class and establish a free Republic. The nation's fate is now in the hands of voters alone.

This roleplay is inspired by the legacy of Falleentium, and aims to deliver a similar experience.

Majority of Liberal Democrats back the return of the monarchy in shock poll

The majority of Liberal Democrats would vote to return the monarchy in another referendum.

A survey by the Liberal Democrat suggests that 43% would support returning the monarchy, with 42% opposing.

Party Chairman Nikoloz Torosyan has sought to preserve the Republic despite calls from party members to back a second referendum.

The poll questioned over a thousand party members.

This is the first lead for monarchism since 1180.

Liberal Democrats voted in favour of creating a Republic by a vote of 57% to 43% in the 1182 referendum.

Liberal Democratic Executive Committee votes in favour of moving Presidential and High Commissioner Primaries to June 1188

The Liberal Democratic Executive Committee has approved a proposal by Chairman Nikoloz Torosyan that shifted the Liberal Democratic Union’s primaries up from November 1188 to June 1188 to give the candidates more time to prepare for the 1189 elections.

The motion moves the Liberal Democratic primaries from the first week in November to the last week in June in order to give candidates more time to prepare for the election.

“One of the fatal flaws damaging our party’s electoral performance is our inability to be ready for the election.” Torosyan said in a statement. “Presidential and High Commissioner candidates now have a few months to prepare for the election campaign instead of just a couple of weeks.”

These primaries will be the 2nd of their kind in the Liberal Democratic Union.

While we all obsess about Nydia’s socialist Republican government, don’t forget that under Nikoloz Torosyan the Liberal Democratic Union has a chance of leading a fightback for a moral Christian Nydia, the great unrepresented Christian Nydia that people around the world admire and miss. To achieve this, the Liberal Democrats must dramatically raise their game, reaching parts of a troubled country that they have not touched for a decade.

Some are concerned that the Christian morals of Nydia are dying with the rise of the far-left, but Christian Nydia never died.

What nearly died was not Christian Nydia, but the Liberal Democratic Union. Pull up the graph of the LDU’s electoral performance over the last 10 years and you have the side view of half of a ski hill. Having been one of the major parties of government since Nydia’s formation, it has sunk to a small minority since 1180. It needs to revive. In 1180, with 60 Senators, it went into a coalition government with the Republicans, only to be punished by an electoral dressing down to 39 Senators in 1183, and just a few more in 1186.

Yet the skiing trip is not over. They need to trounce both the Republicans and Cavaliers.

The Republicans and the Cavaliers have leaders who are both unqualified to be president and open to radically atheist positions. The Cavaliers claim to be Christian but support capitalism, the ideology of greed and selfishness, the opposite of Christian values. Zaal Kalinka is well-intentioned socialist campaigner, but is weak and steered by profoundly atheist advisers.

In order to seize this chance, the Liberal Democratic Union must go both deeper and wider. Torosyan had an attractively brief leadership manifesto with three points: building an economy that puts people first, bringing about an industrial revolution and rallying a “Christian movement to stand up for our values against the forces of the extreme left and the extreme right.”

The Liberal Democratic Union needs to appeal to the centrist members of the Republican Party and Cavaliers if it wants to win the next election.
