Apparently, in our backwards prep-school society, women's rights are controversial. I understand that the statistics our club exposed (We put up posters with UN stats about income inequality, domestic violence, sexual assault, educational inequality ect.) were shocking. I know why some people would rather ignore the injustices in our society that don't affect them. I They assumed that because we want them to help fight this injustice, that we want to reverse the inequality and establish a matriarchy. Clearly, prep-school students have an inadequate exposure to feminism. I heard rape jokes made about posters we made to educate people about the shocking reality of sexual violence. We were even criticized for giving money to an all girls school in Africa, because boys need education too. Our small contribution cannot even begin to level the playing field.
