[Obsolete] Unofficial Patch for MetroForSteam [Version 9.1]
The new steam ui update made the vgui based skins unusable. Thanks to everyone that used metro and the unofficial patch.

A lot of thanks to these people for contributing to the Unofficial patch

So it appears that the latest BETA Update on steam removed the VGUI panels for the main component (top bar).

This means that from now on Metro For Steam and any other skins that rely on VGUI will not work.

The good news is that the new ui can be skinned using css in a non-official way (via a third-party tool made by the community). However skinning will be much more limited. Some of the limitations might be:
- can't add the Restart button anymore or any other new items in the TOP dropmenus
- the top 5 buttons with Steam,View,Friends,Games,Help will remain there
- add_game, downloads, friends buttons will remain on the bottom

Some other temporary good news is that Metro still works on STABLE steam branch.

Overall I believe the future of steam skins will rely on css hacks. Hopefully valve will add an official way to skin the css (sadly they already added some safeguards which prevent from editing some css parts in the library )

Metro skin is the best steam skin ever! But after I used this skin, I lost the selectable box in my steam settings screen, can anyone tell me how to fix it? Thanks!

Use the auto-installer from the links. You need to install both official and then the patch. Read the instructions or use the auto-installer.
So, no more updates? we've not had an update in ages.

Logout and view my profile are interlined and mixed in together, (that's when you click your name at the top right)

Download the patch again either via the auto-installer or the manual method. Hotfixes are only announced on the discord channel.

Recent nVidia driver issue for some reason. If they haven't fixed it in a newer driver yet, turn off hardware acceleration in steam settings

I usually just restart Steam app when that happens. That Nvidia driver issue happens when you update your graphics card with Steam open.

Had a buggy logout menu and the newest patched fixed it. 👍

Thx for the hard work and the effort to keep this skin alive!

Well, latest Steam Beta just brought the biggest UI change for Steam. Seems to have killed skins too, along with it. Don't see Skins tab anymore under Interface.

Well, glad I was able to use this amazing skin and the unofficial patch then, if that's the case. Man, the restart button is amazing.

Thank you to the original dev, RedSigma and everyone who made this skin and kept it alive all these years. I'm gonna miss it when the new official UI comes out of beta. I've used this skin for years and it made Steam a lot easier to look at!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to keeping this skin alive, and of course to the original creator Dom, and especially to RedSigma, you guys have made Steam's desktop UI bearable for many years. I look forward to the new update but salute you all in farewell :lunar2020confidentrooster:
