Recent nVidia driver issue for some reason. If they haven't fixed it in a newer driver yet, turn off hardware acceleration in steam settings
Thx for the hard work and the effort to keep this skin alive!
This means that from now on Metro For Steam and any other skins that rely on VGUI will not work.
The good news is that the new ui can be skinned using css in a non-official way (via a third-party tool made by the community). However skinning will be much more limited. Some of the limitations might be:
- can't add the Restart button anymore or any other new items in the TOP dropmenus
- the top 5 buttons with Steam,View,Friends,Games,Help will remain there
- add_game, downloads, friends buttons will remain on the bottom
Some other temporary good news is that Metro still works on STABLE steam branch.
Overall I believe the future of steam skins will rely on css hacks. Hopefully valve will add an official way to skin the css (sadly they already added some safeguards which prevent from editing some css parts in the library )
