The batgirl gyatt is not enough to distract from the mid gameplay

There is a really strong opening cutscene that gets you all hyped as hell and then you get to the actual game bit and you can immediately tell this game was meant to be flooded with every single annoying live service mechanic but they had to scale it back right before release because the audience was so tired and Marvel's Avengers flopped

Combat might look decent on the surface but once you see the levels floating above the enemy heads it becomes an instance of "why the hell does strong superhero need to punch this random goon 15 times to knock them out" and all the satisfaction that could be there is drained out

Basically imagine what it would be like to play a live service game offline and that's Gotham Knights

Genuinely fantastic and arguabley the best Telltale game ever made (and I say this as someone who adores the walking dead season 1 game)

Stacked cast, awesome story, fantastic music and filled with the good parts of Borderlands' humor. Being a Borderlands fan helps with a lot of the references and such but you don't need to have played any of them prior to this game. It was quite refreshing seeing fleshed out characters with their own progression as this can be rare in the franchise apart from some exceptions

Loaderbot is the GOAT, every scene he's in is a joy

This game is awesome, it's like Sleeping Dogs and Hotline Miami had a baby

The animations are so well done and executing combos is super satisfying, all backed by a wicked soundtrack. If you appreciate finisher animations in the slightest - buy

This game has one of the worst intro sequences I have ever played in a video game, not only is it very tedious and constantly takes control away from the player but it's also buggy. Terrible first impression

You might recall the intro tutorial from Far Cry Blood Dragon where it takes the piss out of tutorials in games and you need to spam enter through a bunch of menus, well this does it for real 8 years later. Instead of just showing a popup to say "push forward on the left stick to move" it will literally freeze the entire game until the perform the action which in a combat sequence is really annoying. It will also take the control away to pan the camera to something or open a menu randomly because you have to see this right now

In an RPG loot is generally one of the most exciting things about it and collecting items more powerful than the last is a great feeling, not in this game. For every single item you pick up from a defeated enemy the game will pause to show you the item and then you have to confirm that you want the item or to equip it, it doesn't just do this for weapons either - every single health pack and consumable it'll ask you and when you've just defeated 10 enemies you're going to be pressing Y, B, Y, B over and over and over. Looting is meant to be exciting and promote exploration, not be the most annoying thing in the game

Once you've gotten your amazing loot you had to review first and gotten control of your character you will defeat some enemies and need to talk to the first NPC of the game... which doesn't work. I had to reload my save just to be able to interact with him which resulted in 15 minutes of exposition dumping and because the animals make animal noises then the narrator does translation each line of dialogue is doubly lengthened

Finally to the actual combat of the game, your character feels very floaty and so does the combat. It might look flashy to execute some of the attacks but they have very little impact and don't feel satisfying to pull off. This could just be the class I picked and maybe the power users are more interesting but I don't care to find out

I really wanted to like this one but the mission design is super repetitive and boring

Aside from few and far between set pieces you'll just go to location > kill generic bad dudes > hack something > kill more generic dudes > next area > hack again > mission complete and that's about 80% of the game

Graphically as well as how the game actually feels has aged very well but the characters and story have zero depth to them, it's all the generic stereotype characters you've seen a million times in western media and when you do find hints of personality like with their move sets, car entering animations and idle animations it's all taken away with the little to no character development

Switching through your squad of heroes on the fly is a really neat idea and you can pull off fun combos as well as abuse the movement mechanics as your dash will reset every switch but the moments of fun you do have are a big let down when you have to deal with the mission objectives

The first game had a lot of problems and while the sequel addresses a few of them it also introduces more problems, many of which are bugs

The facelift to the presentation and environments are welcome and they add some new mechanics like different item combos but it's terribly explained and even simple stuff like using items properly you'll have to dive into the options to figure out. By instinct you'll think I've got the knife equipped > to use the knife I press E, if I switch to another item and press E surely it uses the item right? Nope

The AI doesn't act consistently as well so when something might work the first time it won't work again under the same circumstances making attempts at a higher score or better time a real pain

this game is genuinely hard to look at, all the textures are super blurry even at highest settings and the contrastt is out the wazoo

doesn't feel as smooth to play as Just Cause 2 for some reason even tho they had 8 years since that game to refine the gameplay, at least this game will let you pass the tutorial unlike the 3rd game

it just hurts my eyes and I can't play any more of it
