In Crusader Kings III, you play as a dynasty in the Middle Ages. Will your bloodline triumph or fall into obscurity?

This game is like a blank canvas. It provides you with a rich medieval world and a lot of tools. What you do with them is entirely up to you. As a king, do you want to expand your realm through warfare while trying to maintain internal stability? Do you want to rise from a lowly count to a mighty emperor without raising a sword, instead making the right marriages while eliminating your rivals? Here, you set your own goals.

Crusader Kings II was, at a time, my favorite game of all time, so some comparisons are in order. The map is bigger and more detailed, with baronies now being physically represented on the map. You can specialize your characters even more with the use of lifestyle perks. Technology is a lot more engaging, as you have more ways of influencing its growth. Cultures and religions are far more unique and can be reformed or created. Warfare is more simplified and less obtuse, while still remaining fun. You also have limited building slots in your holdings, so you need to make decisions on what to build.

While not the main focus of the game, the graphics are quite nice, having a Sims vibe, while the soundtrack is pretty epic.

Crusader Kings III is an incredible game where you can end up losing hundreds of hours and still be discovering new things or events here and there, as every playthrough is unique. If this wasn't enough, there is an amazing Game of Thrones mod that I absolutely recommend!
