So far as a NON hardcore gamer, this has been an incredibly difficult game. I just absolutely am trash at predicting enemy movements, but that brings me to the first thing i love about this installment for the souls devs. The enemy movement in this game is so varied and random. Enemies will hold a weapon high above their head in a move to crush you but then they pause there for the briefest of moments before smashing your life in one swing. They will stab the weapon into the ground and wait, theres a pause, then rip it out sideways dragging it along the dirt and sweeping you up followed by another ground stab. Its unapologetically brutal. Younger gamers and super Souls fans will have less of a hard time training themselves to read attacks but i am a dumpster fire and im older. I still love the punishment. Games with this level of dificulty require perfection from you to advance to the next area or defeat the boss or clear the dungeon. Theres very little room for error but the pay off is TRULY rewarding. No hand holding here. No trophies for participation. Just death.

Anyways the game is also gorgeous regardless of the "outdated" graphics. Really though, people who call the graphics outdated are just ignorant so i suppose it cant be helped. They arent pushing the uncanny valley and they arent trying too. The graphic fidelity of any game is a choice in both art direction and budget. What they managed to create with their unique combo of both is truly stunning. Breathtaking to be sure.

As far as the performance on PC i have had little to no issue. I imagine certain hardware combos with varying driver versions for said hardware will have some probelms but its a PC not a console. The devs cant possibly catch every single bug for every single possible combination of hardware and software, for which their are likely millions. Consoles are super easy because there are only a few versions of each. Optimization will come in short order as more data is collected by the devs. My setup is certainly mid tier with a ryzen 7 5800x and a 3060ti. I havent updated any of my drivers in about 5 or 6 months and ive crashed one time in 20 hours with an occasional stutter when traversing over land on horse back. Nothing game breaking, nothing jarring, just a whole lot of WOW THATS AWESOME.

So i suppose if your going to judge the game based on user reviews just remember that PC is the hardest platform to optimize for and know WHY that is. Then ask yourself if you ACTUALLY understand why and if your willing to pay for something potentially unplayable by your standards for a week or so till patches roll out. Its the nature of the beat. It cant be helped. Even if i was having problems but still logged the hours id be just as in love with the game. Im not an angsty teen who is absolutely outraged that i cant play RIGHT THIS VERY INSTANT, nor am I a 20 something "know it all" trying to figure out where i stand in social circles and society. Im old, crotchety, with the GTFO off my lawn kind of wisdom. This game is a 9.5/10 and the only game i have EVER played that actually deserved a 10/10 is God of War 4.

Dragons Dogma is a wonderful RPG that feels right at hom eon the PC.

I owned this for the XBOX 360 years ago and absolutely lost myself in this game. It has so much character and just feels fresh compared to everything else being offered in the genre. Im not goin to write a huge in depth review for you all but I will tell you this; Dragons Dogma is something familiar yet very different in every way that matters. It is refreshing and engrossing, deep yet somehow simple. The combat is very engaging and offers just enough to keep it interesting while keeping things simple enough that it doesnt feel like a chore. There is crafting, looting, questing, fighting, exploration, character development, all the typical RPG tropes but done in its own unique way.

The graphics are dated yes, but this is more than a few years old. However it does look far better on PC than it did on last gen consoles with slightly scalable graphics. It apperently has 4k however im not goin to hook my computer up to my television just yet.

Anyhow im not one to uaually review games, im usually just reading them. This game is something special though. Its one of my favorite 'modern' RPGs i have ever had the pleasure of playing. The port to PC was done wonderfully and this game deserves your time, and once you drop a few hours into it, Dragons Dogma will demand your time haha.

Please give this game a try, if you like 3rd person RPGs i see no reason you wouldnt fall in love with this gem.

Capcom, thank you for bringing us this much wanted and highly adored game to Steam and the PC, you have made me a very happy gamer.
