Undoubtedly one of the best if not THE BEST modern video game remaster out there. I will summarize the pros and cons of this remaster into the following:

The Good:

- Totally seamless transition into the new modern 4K visual from the old classic Win95 at a push of a key
- Extremely faithful to the original titles (some might say that it is perhaps TOO faithful)
- Game "installation" screen when you first boot up for both Tiberium Dawn and Red Alert is filled with God tier nostalgia
- New UI with a complete revamp of the sidebar complete with higher quality artwork that totally feels in place
- Plethora of never-before-seen bonus contents including exclusive missions and cinematic cutscenes for Tiberium Dawn and Red Alert that was only available on certain console platforms
- You can queue multiple units while in production now
- New multiplayer features and service is great. Finally you can now play 1v1 ranked and spectate any previous matches that was played including spectating ongoing games in the lobby
- You can add, remove and create your very own custom music tracks in-game for both Tiberium Dawn and Red Alert however you want
- All of Frank Klepacki's overly iconic classical and remixed tracks are here including various modern remixed that was composed solely for this remastered collection!!!

The Bad:

- Minor bugs (though not a real dealbreaker)
- The gameplay meta among factions/units remains as unbalanced as ever. Kinda of a tradeoff for being too faithful to the original titles
- Multiplayer is still officially limited to a maximum of 4 players total per map in Tiberium Dawn, while in Red Alert the limit is a maximum of 8 players total
- FMV cutscenes are all still heavily compressed in SD resolution extracted from the Playstation home console version and further artificially enhanced via AI upscaling due to the fact that the original master footage tapes for both Tiberium Dawn and Red Alert are still yet to be found

The Kinda Ugly:

- Certain mission on hard difficulty are completely unbalanced. This is already another insult to injury as the AI blatantly cheats when it comes to resource procurement and unit build time. The fault of a clear lack of playtesting

Sefeia: Well, first of all, it's tiberiAN dawn. But besides that, no, it's not a "fan name". It was never put on the English box, but it was in the official readme documents back then, and both the French and German version had a sub-title that boiled down to "the tiberium conflict", too.

Have an official document:

This file (or a slightly earlier version of it) can also be found on the original Covert Ops disc.

"It's not called "Tiberium Dawn"... It's just called Command and Conquer. "Tiberium Dawn" is just a fan name. Please stop making it seem like it's the official name... This, the first ever C&C game, is just called "Command and Conquer" and nothing else. Wish people would understand that, but you people seem to throw fan-made names about and give off the misconception of it being the official name."

Wut? Even the developers call it "Tiberium Dawn" internally and to refer to it as just "Command & Conquer" is grossly more confusing than anything because C&C as a whole is a big franchise spanning multiple different titles. That's just like referring to the first ever Star Wars movie as just "Star Wars rather" than "Star Wars: A New Hope" or just "A New Hope" because Star Wars is such a huge franchise that spans multiple movie titles and other source materials.

I think that the play balance is good in this game and the question is whether you have the techniques needed to counter the combinations the AI throws at you, or the player opposite you. TD is probably better at this in all honestly. Unless it's a water map the Allies always felt a bit handicapped to me, but they have great late-game units too, so it really depends.

The AI cheating is minimal compared to modern games which truly lack playtesting. I believe the balance in C&C reflects considerable playtesting actually. Even the new bonus cutscenes speak to the fact they actors and staff there would play the game after shooting all day. Kinda cool imo. Great take, but there is more to it than you give credit for imo.

@ That Uncle

Regardless whatever it was released in 1995 or not, they could still have easily remastered it into HD and well into 4K, 8K or beyond because something like a 35mm analog type film, the kind of film used for most classical movies can easily be considered around 20 megapixels and more in resolution. A 1080p a.k.a. (Full HD) film, when translated into megapixel count, for example, is a mere 2 megapixels (as there are comparatively 2 million pixels in each frame). Even a 4K video would translate to a comparable of 9 megapixels of resolution per frame.

The problem right now as the review mentioned, it's that the original master tapes is lost and without those master tapes, a HD remaster of those cutscenes isn't possible.

Good review cheers :)

I've not played this remastered version but its one thing I loved about C&C/RA2 was what I believed to be very well balanced yet very much asymmetrical factions... was I to young to know better?!

The game was released for DOS in 1995. more info on FMV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikJLYYTrIxs

AI cheating is sadly the most common thing in games, while its meant to be a tool for the AI to combat harden players its often overlooked and well you can damn well tell the AI is cheating its ass off. if you look at CS all the bots had aim bot and wallhack it was down to what level easy ect that told the bots how much to use it. However as sad as it is in just about every RTS game we have if the AI is not cheating the ever loving out shit out of the game, its just mulling about doing jack shit, but hey the remaster could had been WAY WORSE then it it is
