As long as there is an option to switch to older versions of this game, I will recomend this game.
New versions and dlc are focused on surrealistically keeping player from expanding, changing this game more and more into simulator of clicking one button: "increase development by spending ~10 XXX points".
Major nations have magical buttons for summoning infantry from other dimensions. Example:
Russia - Raise Streltsy: Portal to another universe opens in your capital making infantry in quantity of 20% of your force limit appear. They are fully armed, trained, and you need only to pay their maintenance. They don't use your manpower pool.
Ottomans - Heir Choosing: Your ruler seems to be prophet. You have 3 rulers to choose, and you see their stats before making so. If they don't appeal to you, you can disinherit one of them and choose 3 other again.
Raise Jannisaries -> Portal to another universe opens in your chosen state making jannisarries appear. They don't use your manpower pool.
Manchu -> Raise Banners: Portal to another universe opens in your chosen state making manchu banner cavalry appear. They don't use your manpower pool.

Bots have hidden bonuses, that enable them to siege your castles/capital in 6/7 months, while you need sometimes 5 years. Comepletely randomized.

Some can say you can increase chance for something to happen, but it doesn't matter as long as there is 1% chance of failure, that happens.
