No Spoilers Review. I have many words for this game and one of them is Phenomenal. The gameplay is top notch and I have come across only two glitches throughout my entire playthrough, but more on that later. In terms of the gameplay, extremely immersive, intuitive, and user friendly. While I enjoy the complexities of the VR game Boneworks, Half Life: Alyx’s less complex mechanics are extremely enjoyable. However, one very infuriating bug I came across was that my left hand disappeared for a period of time, making reloading impossible. Luckily, this bug disappeared after a level switch and will most likely be fixed soon. Otherwise, the mechanics are well suited for experienced VR players and newer ones. I also love the different options this game has for controls. Its nice knowing people with one arm or left-handed people can just as easily play this game. As for the story, it’s very fitting, immersive, and takes a lot of unexpected turns. I’m glad to see valve return to the Half-Life universe and create something truly amazing. Not once throughout the game was a moment dull or dragged out. I loved the ending of the game and was impressed with the creative direction they took. Characters were great too and interesting in their own ways. As for the level design, I never felt lost and the puzzles always felt fair and put up a challenge. The level of detail throughout the game was consistently impressive. Overall, I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a proper, action-packed VR experience. It is one of the best VR games, and overall games I’ve ever played.

-Physics are easy to understand.
-An overwhelming amount of content.
-Levels are really long.
-Easy to get lost.
-Storing stuff in inventory via stashing it near your hips is extremely inconsistent. 8 out of 10 times I find myself dropping the item rather than storing it. Stashing items on your back is a lot more consistent.


Overall it really is a great game that I have enjoyed multiple hours playing. Absolutely one of the most immersive and entertaining VR games I have played. Though it is important to note some of the annoying and frustrating issues of no saving paired with extremely long levels I might not necessarily have time for. I will change my review if this gets fixed. Otherwise, I would give it a 7.5/10.

Possibly one of the best VR experiences I have had. This is definitely a game for those who are new and experineced to VR alike. A game easy to pick up when you have very limited time.

I beat this game in like three days and let me tell you. Those were the most fun three days I'v had in a long time. The music paired with the butt-kicking mechanics of this game is just the type of blood-rush I need when i want to kill things mindlessly. Would recommend even though Doom: Eternal is coming out soon.

This game is unoptomised for PC, I have a 970 and I get frame drops every time I enter a new room/area and when I get shot. Game feels like anoter bad PC port.

This game is the best outerspace sandbox experience to ever be found.
