For how far out of their comfort zone they went, this game turned out very well. You can see an immense improvement from the first game in terms of mechanics and game-play. The game is fairly well balanced, although newer players will tend to say something is OP, it becomes obvious with experience that the balance of the game is a huge concern and is handled pretty well. Each faction is fairly unique in the campaign, and in battles, even moreso with the latest lord pack (The Prophet and the Warlock) in terms of campaign mechanics. If you're new to Total War games, I recommend watching Heir of Carthage to learn a bit about how the game plays. A lot of what you get bombarded with can be slightly overwhelming at times but its worth it, I promise.

Ikit claw is by far one of the most interesting and unique lords this game has seen thus far, this dlc is honestly worth more than 8.99 with what it gives you. You're getting 2 lords, new units, and some pretty unique campaign mechanics.

Early Access Review
I would like to state beforehand that, this is the first review I have taken this seriously as I don't see a point on popular games, but this game is a little different. Due to its rocky launch and the fact that you only have 2 bosses to fight, the player-base has dwindled lately and even though the reviews are looking great, I'd like to add another recommended to the list. That being said I'll try my best not to be biased.

Upon playing my first game, I constantly had that heart pounding thrill whenever players where nearby, that fear that I could die without having actually done anything was intense. My first 3 hunts my friend and I got out with the bounty for both of the current monsters in the game, and had racked up a few player kills. However, after that it had slowly gone south when we started facing players who knew a little bit more about the game. We (me, it was me. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ him over.) realized the way we (me) where going about it was all wrong. The game is definitely not for someone who likes being fast paced, if you don't go slow you will most certainly lose. The matchmaking is almost non existent, you'll most certainly be fighting higher level hunters and the game is probably going to feel unfair for a short time. Before playing I recommend watching LevelCaps Tutorial To get you started so you know just a bit more about the game going into it. It has a few glitches here and there, I've gotten stuck in the map more than once. Sometimes headshots feel like they don't land, but that's partially because of the gunplay. Bullets travel pretty slowly. To conclude this review, this game has a lot of potential, the more I play it the more eager I grow to see it shape into a game that could be amazing. However, that's not to say the game couldn't totally flop later on down the road. However as it stands now, its more than worth 30 dollars.

Honestly, this game has had its ups and downs. The Hit-registration is still really bad, and will probably remain that way. Operators continue to be released in unbalanced, over-powered states, or so bad that nobody uses them. The game continues to push out updates that break the game in some way, and is rarely patched to fix these things until the next update. Through all of these issues, I keep coming back to this game. Why? Because there's something so satisfying about it. Those games where you do good, and start to improve even slightly in some aspect, be that callouts, recoil control, droning, game/map knowledge. Attempts to improve will be rewarded. The game is certainly more enjoyable with a group, but I found mine in game. The community isn't that toxic when you go above silver in ranked, that's because the only way you're getting out of silver is if your peers actually want to win. If after 4 years you are on the fence about this game, I implore you to pick it up on sale if you are worried you will not enjoy it, and try to get used to the game. I promise, if you enjoy a competitive PvP environment, you will enjoy this game. However, don't listen to other people when it comes to picking operators. Play what you want in terms of operators. Don't let what people say steer you away from them.
