This is a very faithful recreation of one of the best and most influential FPS games ever made. When I mean faithful I mean it, this game is a modern 1 to 1 recreation of the original. The map is almost exactly the same along with the voice lines, UI, story, enemies, Easter eggs and so much more that I probably never even noticed.

Most importantly the games controls and mechanics play like a modern game, for System Shock fans its more like System Shock 2 than 1 (except without skill points and space magic). Exploring the layers of citadel is also great fun and feels rewarding to do, it's probably even better if you never played the 1994 version. The game tasks and objectives have the same amount of backtracking and convoluted objectives as the original. It feels as if there should have been a little more guidance for the player, as there is no guidance other than audio and text, logs and some, at times, extremely vague voice lines. That being said, it's what you signed up for, this is System Shock. It was designed 30 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years ago and for some people that's going to be a huge turn off.

I think you should buy it if you're at all interested. You'll know within two hours if you'll hate it. If you hate it, refund it, but I think it's worth trying if just to compare modern single player game design philosophy to that of older FPS'. If you like it play SS2, or Marathon 2 and Infinite.
