Im not saying dont buy it, just not at full price. I played this game for 4 years collectively almost 5. two years on ps4 and almost 3 on pc. I don't play a lot of fps shooters and this was probably the only one i play exclusively until now. This game gets worse with every update which is why the reviews are slowly becoming more negative for a variety of reasons. The biggest reason I cant recommend this game anymore, and you'll see this reason pop up a lot in the most recent reviews, is the matchmaking. Like i said I don't play a lot of fps shooters so I'm not amazing but I could jump on hunt and still have fun with people within my skill bracket. Now the game seems literally broken. I played with a 2 star on my team (mmr rating range from 1-6) and the whole match was 5-6 star people. How can my friend ever learn anything in this game when people with over 2+ kds are shooting him in the head every 30 seconds?
The second main reason is cheaters and the community combined. I wouldn't say the community is "toxic", but you really cannot convince hardcore fans of cheating in this game and its infuriating. which then creates an infinite loop of the problem never getting solved due to incompetence and gross negligence by crytek and fans putting down other people who try to mention there even might be an issue. Now like I said I'm not an ace shooter and I know not everyone who kills me is a cheater but since I have been playing this game for 5 years I would like to think I can spot out some fishy behavior here and there (people pre firing corners when you've made no noise, wall banging EVERY hit but knowing when not to wall bang mysteriously when you're behind an impenetrable object on the INSIDE of a building exc.) , and even when its blatant cheating, nothing is done. When i say nothing, I literally mean nothing, if you don't have a video of a guy walling you from 5 miles a way while screaming "Im cheating" don't even bother reporting them, nothing will be done. This isn't an opinion either this is a fact, you can pull up videos of people using wall hacks on alt accounts JUST to see if crytek will do anything and they play for months or years before anything happens. They don't even read the in game support tickets. Another little fun fact is crytek actually released data in 2021 showing 20% of their player base was cheating in some way shape or form, weather that be through exploits, re shades (which were allowed by crytek up until recently) or blatant hacks. Now mysteriously they haven't released those statistics in 2 years. Im not a psychic but im going to assume its because the numbers are still the same or embarrassingly worse. In my personal opinion, if you're in the 4-6 star range, you're 100% going to encounter at least one hacker a day that nothing will be done about.
Now I'm not even going to mention the skins that are 100% pay to win as they are nearly impossible to see at any given point because like I said, just look at the most recent reviews of this game and you can very clearly see the money grab fort-nite/tarkov experience that this game is spiraling towards. the recent reviews keep getting worse and worse and crytek literally doesn't care as long as you fan boys keep buying their skins, so in conclusion if you stumble upon this and actually read it, don't get the game until you see these recent reviews turning to thumbs up again because IT WAS a great game and still can be, but unfortunately I think you'll be jumping aboard a sinking ship. To anyone who has uninstalled and thinking about re installing, don't.
