As a veteran who got into the series by playing HW: Raider Retreat, I will leave my impression here, of the notable things I have found so far in game:

  • Ballistics are a mix of hitscan and projectiles: On short range they will always hit, but to a certain range, cover - distance affects them
  • Formations are back, and is closer to how it used to work in HW1 than on HW1 Remastered. Although like in HW2 and remastered versions, units on Aggressive stance tends to "ignore" move orders and keep shooting at / pursuing enemies
  • The "terrain" elements serves a good tactical element to the now classic 3D movement, especially tunnels and "debris shields". Large groups in certain formations struggle to move a bit if they are following waypoints close to the "terrain", though
  • Aside of the traditional difficulty levels when playing the campaign, there are also "Story" ( for those who only want to enjoy the missions ), and "Custom" ( which provides quite a list of different options to tweak, like amount of enemy spawns, resources and other )
  • You can also choose a "default" fleet when selecting a mission, which comes in handy for those who want to play a mission without having to keep a previous one, if they screwed it up ( or just straight up jumping to the mission, rather than replay the whole game )
  • Time control is finally back...but only to slow it down, not to accelerate it. Then again, very rarely you will have "time to kill" on the campaign
  • Like in HW2, missions usually ends with the last objective completed. A bit annoying, but thankfully unlike in HW2, nothing big that makes you go "oh ♥♥♥♥ I should have recycled all of my ships first!", for example
  • Turret ships are versatile and can be redeployed without any limit
  • Minelayers have now three different options to deploy mines: in a sphere, in a wall and in a line. Quite handy, rather than manually move the ship around
  • Probes can be redeployed now
  • Locational module damage is out, replaced by a ( kinda simple ) "more damage from behind / the sides"
  • Each unit has now an unique hability when researched, some which can be quite powerful if used right
  • Torpedo and Ion frigates can be quite OP if amassed, especially with the long range and concentrate fire habilities
  • Recycle is gone. Not the end of the world, but certainly was helpful in certain situations
  • Resource collectors and controllers are now the same. Makes it easier to manage and obtain resources directly...but now they have a lower population cap
  • The UI has been even more streamlined, faster to use. Building and researching is now on the same tab, and dynamic
  • The new optional controls can be strange to veterans at first, but after warming up to them, you will find them fast to use...until muscle memory messes with the hotkeys heh ( although those can be rebinded )
  • Mission variety is quite great. Some are "remixes" of old mission concepts but with a new spin, and others are fully new in the series. Shoutouts to the one where you are given a limited number of ships and have to destroy the objective, that one was quite cool
  • Plot is nice. The Incarnate is a nice response after the Vagyr and the Bentusi are out, and it develops across the missions with a good pacing ( which HW2 wishes it had ). It has more focus on characters than in Desert of Kharak, so it can be felt a bit "out of place" at first
  • Sound design is nice, the SFX and music are superb as always
  • The graphics flexes especially on the lighting and shader effects on ships, which it can get quite cinematic. You will need a decent PC to move this on full max, however
  • The War Games mode is quite fun to play, pushes you to try new things while keeping you in guard
  • They added a video that explains the events of DoK, HW1 and HW2...but doesn't mention HW:C ( oof lmao ). At least the Somtaaw appears in the background at the beginning of the story

Overall so far is quite a nice HW game, 7.5/10, which surprises me how a lot of people are reacting negatively to it.

Honestly, feels like all over again when HW2 came out: It was overhyped, so when it finally came out, fans tore it down, between the rushed plot, the insane dynamic difficulty, the Bentusi going extinct, and the game being so demanding, that for a while, it was like a graphic benchmark for PCs of the era.

Give it time, and people will warm to it. Definitely, I can attest it isn't "unfinished" nor "a wreck of a plot".

What happens when you mix RE1 / SH2, number stations, lesbianism, German and Japanese words, and classical music? A masterpiece.

If you seek a survival horror game and a game with a great plot and soundtrack, you must play this. It truly excels every single aspect, and more with the latest update, which tweaks what used to be the most common irk of the game: the 6 slot inventory.

It doesn't matter if you are a fan of the original DS game, or a new player, this game will grab you with their gameplay, the attention to the smallest of details, the plot, the aesthetics, and especially, the music.

Don't miss it out just because it's niche due to having little marketing. Probably is one of the best RPGs I have played on the last years, and on par with the first game.



All of that, or maybe this is just a heavily complex marketing ploy to promote Fire Emblem Elegant Strategy

For being done as an April Fools joke, it is certainly very good!

It has a lot of very little touches and details, and while it is 2-3 hours long, it is definitely a great experience to play.
Also you can beatbox :V

Such an interesting game that mixes elements from Outrun, Chase H.Q. and even Mario Kart, combined with memes and a classic artstyle. And you can even play with your friends!
Definitely a cool game for 5€.

It has been six long years since the game got successfully funded on Kickstarter. During this time there was not so much information about the development, to the point some even thought this was a scam.

But here it is.

And the wait has been truly worth it. Truly excellent, and yet even after beating it, it seems that I only scratched the surface.

If you love Earthbound/Mother, Undertale/Deltarune and Lisa: The Painful, you will love this game.

Just a little note: the disclaimer warning is there for a reason and it can get "pretty real" sometimes, so, just take that into reference if you need to take breaks from such situations.

Logistics: The game

Not many have heard of this oldie, but is a classic for sure. While back in the day there were already games doing the "RTS but you have to complete the mission with the units you have" like Ground Control, SWINE added the spin of keeping an eye on your ammo and fuel reserves, plus towing trucks and disabled units.

It may be difficult for the unexperienced strategists ( especially the Pig campaign ), but is such an interesting challenge to beat.

This HD version did a good job improving the performance and graphics, the sole downside compared with the original is that the singleplayer cheat codes not longer works for some reason, but that's all.

Even after seeing the DevBlogs, trailers and reviews, I was holding my breath, but here it is, and is excellent.
This joint collaboration between Petroglyph and EA have result into a fully sucessful product.

I recommend this so much, that even for 20€ on release it feels cheap for the devs.

So here we go. After many years of wait we finally got on our hands a real Ace Combat game in PC. And it was worth it.
Basically in order to avoid writting a wall of text, I'll resume my opinion by making a list:

Pros:
-Decent plot ( maybe not incredible as AC5 and Zero, but on par or even a bit above AC4 and AC6 ).
-New elements like the meteorological effects or the G maneuvers spice up a bit more the classic gameplay.
-Multiple references not only to AC4, but to AC5 as well as "Ace Combat fanservice".
-The drones are for sure a welcomed new kind of enemies, will test your skills to dodge attacks and hunt down agile targets.
-You can buy pieces at the shop to improve the performance of the plane or the weapons.

Cons;
-The shop is full of individual pieces so in order to reach a plane for buying it, you will have to "carve a path" to them.
-Checkpoints should be present in some missions and / or better placed, as sometimes they are too early on start.
-Some aspects for the planes are too similar between each other.
-Multiplay could have for sure more kind of gamemodes rather than deathmatch and team deathmatch ( but then again the game has been just launched, maybe more will come in future updates ).

Neutral ( as for some may be good, for others bad ):
-Not many planes ( I think is on the same range as in Zero / AC4 ), but then again you can choose different pieces to improve them.

In resume they did a great job on this game. Ignore the bad reviews, as currently are part of a mass review bombing due the game not supporting certain features, but most of them are only bugs that were just acknowledged by the devs. Nothing wrong on asking for them, but with aggressive ways like this you will get undesired reactions.
