Warhammer

Growing up, Warhammer was something I thought was stupid, who could possibly enjoy playing board games with such wonky looking models, boy has my perspective changed over the years.

The first proper steps along my Warhammer journey started back in late February of 2018 with Vermintide 2, not realising it was from the same universe I disliked, Warhammer. As a medieval fantasy dreamer and melee slasher enjoyer, I quickly fell in love with the game thanks to its strange but likeable characters & factions, deep world building and fluid gameplay. But I wanted more, queue the next 4 years of being disappointed by Warhammer games.

November 22, Darktide launches, do I get hooked or what. Easily one of my favourite games, it's gritty, brutal, full of horror, a challenging and intensive experience mixed with the perfect amount of lore. I had finally tasted the grimdark future so many love, and there was no going back.

October 23, I'm sitting at my PC casually looking up Ogryn builds for Darktide and I see this strange video, something about building and painting Bullgryn??? I was sucked down that rabbit hole the moment I clicked on the video, my new daily ritual was watching Warhammer miniature painting videos with every meal. By the end of the month it was decided, I was going to get into miniature collecting.
My first box was the Militarum combat patrol, I really wanted to create strike teams inspired by those from Darktide. It wasn't long until I picked up a starter set, then the 10th edition launch box Leviathan, followed by a year of collecting tons of everything.

So here I am, it's nearing the end of 2024, just over a year into my journey, and I am surrounded by Warhammer. I have more armies than I can count, replaced half of the furniture in my bedroom to display minis, got into 3D printing and modelling, started writing up a ton of lore for my homebrew space marine chapter, the Revenants Infernal, and have watched and read more Warhammer content than I'm willing to admit. This universe has rapidly taken over my life with no signs of slowing down.

I love the stinky ratmen thanks to Vermintide 2, so I obviously had to get a horde of them with the recent refresh, Darktide lead me to building a huge inquisitorial warband and planetary defence forces, and now I can blame Space Marine 2 for pushing me to expand my already massive Tyranids swarm, plus getting me into Ultramarines, Deathwatch and Thousand Sons... That's ignoring all of the other armies I bought into purely because they are cool.

If we interact, I'm sorry if I don't stop bringing up Warhammer, I'm not sorry if I keep trying to get you into it :)
