I have given this game a chance when playing with a friend and whilst it seems ok to begin with, the more you play the more you find the issues.

You need to use a Macro for the "stratagems", I refuse to use Macros in games, so I struggled with the stratagems as you need to basically press multiple buttons whilst trying to move and fire at the same time, it's a pointless mechanic aimed to infuriate players.

Ammo economy is really poor, I am forever running out of ammo because you just do not get enough and if you reload by mistake after killing 1 or 2 enemies, well that is a full clip or mag what ever you call it gone.

No ability to jump has caused me to die on multiple occasions because you get trapped and try to jump over a small pebble on the ground, nope jumping is something that lives in fairy land with the unicorns, you have to swan dive away :(

The difficulty setting are pathetic, I join a mission and the smallest of bugs will either keep attacking me causing to not be able to run, swan dive with grace or even shoot them or they will 1 hit kill me.

Performance of the game is quite frankly atrocious, on a 7900x3d with a 4080 super at 3440x1440, I get 120fps with consistent dips to below 20fps when explosions happen, a consistent game freeze when you open the menu, a consistent freeze when you try to do anything in the menu.

Frankly I am uninstalling the game and I may try it in a year or two, to see if the devs have managed to fix any of the performance issues or even added the general ability to jump or call in stratagems without needing a mouth keyboard or macro.

Avoid!

I wish I had not purchased this game and have now requested a refund.

This game is a complete mess, worse than Cyberpunk, Anthem, The Division 1 at launch and some other games.

Let's start with the graphics, it looks like something from the era of Crysis 2. There is basically no high resolution textures etc that you would expect from games these days.

At 1440p it looks horrible, it's actually quite shocking how bad it looks with all the settings cranked up to the max.

The Sound is awful, one minute your weapons sound like they are hitting enemies then they sound like you are shooting a piece of metal in front of you. I know the weapons typically change the sound the lower down you get in Ammo count but this happens randomly.

The game play is just painfully pathetic, a typical mission is:

Go to "A"
Speak to "B"
Go to "Z"
Cutscene of door opening, barrier dropping, climbing up a wall, climbing over a wall, sliding down a rope
Run along pre-determined path shooting enemies that come from 2 or 3 locations and can easily be killed in a "Kill Box" by abilities
Pick up item
Go to "C"
Cutscene again like above
Fight more enemies in same style only a different looking location
Pick up item
Go to "D"
Cutscene again
Go to "E"
Fight more enemies or boss
Cutscene
Go to "F"
Fast Travel
Go to "G"
Speak to "B"
Claim reward

It just get's really boring really quickly and doesn't seem to change at all.

Server issues, well nothing needs saying about them other than just google it your in for a treat :)

Now the big one, performance!

For a game that looks like Crysis 2 this game runs like utter garbage!

My system is:

Ryzen 9 3950X
32Gb Ram 3600Mhz CL18
RTX 2080Ti
1TB NVME SSD
1440p 165Hz G-Sync Monitor

This game cranked ran at 35 to 60fps, DLSS is enabled by default and makes the game feel a little smoother but still has massive frame drops.

Turning DLSS my frame rate went to over a 100fps at the same settings, but it constantly dropped frames down to below 20fps.

Turning DLSS to Performance made it run better than with it set to "Quality" which is the "Default" but still not stable.

I know it's not my system because I play many other games cranked which have higher resolution textures etc than this game and they all run better than this.

CPU usage was sat at around 11% no matter the settings.

GPU usage was at around 85% no matter the settings.

Even in cutscene's the frame rate was dropping down to below 30fps.

Quite frankly I would never recommend this game, and would advise everyone to refund it if they have bought it because the game needs another 2 years of development time so they can sort out the performance issues, servers, graphical fidelity, sound and the issue now of erasing peoples items.

Destiny 2 got released in 2017 and oh boy did Bungie learn from of Destiny 1, did they fix any of the issues from Destiny 1? Hell no they didn't!

When Destiny 2 launched the story was a tad better than that of Destiny 1 but it wasn't much better, no back story to the main enemy of the game "Ghaul" no explanation of how the enemy managed to get so close to the "Tower" without some sort of alarm sounding or even a ship sending a signal back to the "Tower" to say "Hey lot's of enemies coming your way be prepared" there was nothing!

Even with the following expansions, "Curse Of Osiris" and "Warmind" there was nothing to explain it. Just a small amount of back story to those expansions but nothing major.

Performance wise the game was good, although still plagued with network issues from lagging pvp enemies to pve enemies who would teleport suddenly behind cover whilst you are shooting them, or suddenly regain half there health because the game cannot cope with the damage you are dealing, I mean seriously enemies would and still do to this day regain health because the game cannot keep up with the amount of damage you can deal!!

Forsaken was released which many believe is another "Taken King" type DLC, it turned the game on it's head and made some significant changes to the game in terms of, killing off Cayde one of the most beloved NPC's in the games, to weapon balancing, game modes and many more but the one thing I was always wanting them to fix was the networking in the game and they didn't.

In 2019 Shadowkeep was launched and again it turned the game basically upside down, it introduced Eris Morn to people who had never played Destiny 1, it introduced the "Nightmares" which were used for the story line and then dropped like a hot potato with nothing being done with them, literally nothing in any of the following "DLC's" which are seasons now but hey ho what ever floats your boat I guess.

At the end of the Shadowkeep campaign there is a cut scene of your guardian talking basically to a evil mirror image of yourself, and it looked like we were finally going to get somewhere with the story line, you know find out what this "Darkness" thing is that has been mentioned since Destiny 1 but no that got dropped again and we moved on to the Vex are invading everywhere.

So off we go to kill the vex on the Moon and run a activity to kill the big vex boss, and run it multiple times to kill the same boss over and over again yay how fun, then in the last week or the last 2 weeks we get a new boss to kill but again we kill that boss over and over again and that story line get's dropped so fast, that if a cop was to use a speed trap you would be getting a big ticket for excessive speeding.

We then get another season/DLC which introduces people to Saint 14 again another NPC which was mentioned in Destiny 1 and barely mentioned in Destiny 2. We get another activity called the Sun Dial and yet again it's just "Run this activity and kill the boss, rinse and repeat" until again about the last week to 2 weeks where there is a new boss introduced and again you just kill that multiple times and then hey presto guess what? Yeah it's dropped again so fast you just lost your license to speeding so insanely again.

Mean while, with each season they introduce new weapons, armour and mod's but never introduce something that will actually help the game immensely which is a FIXED NETWORKING SYSTEM!!! You still have to suffer with all the issues that have been around since Destiny 1, lagging PVP and PVE enemies, random error codes that do nothing but blame your internet connection, being kicked from missions or crucible games by an error code just when you are about to finish it.

No instead they introduce the current season, "Season Of The Worthy" or as I like to call it "Season Of The Error Codes", now to go slightly back abit, in the previous season "Season Of Dawn" there were these "Obelisks" where you could hand in materials and level them up and in doing so you got access to different bounties for weapons, so for many people this turned in to a event of collecting the required materials and bounties then handing in the materials to get a "God Roll Perfect Paradox or Bygones" and towards the end of the event there was a mini event for turning in materials to unlock a new activity to be introduced in "Season Of The Error Codes" and this was met with open arms and people flocked to it and completed it.

This activity turned out to be "Trials Of Osiris" yes the activity that was introduced again in Destiny 2 from Destiny 1 but was removed because it was I believe people said "Worthless or Broken" not very surprising but it was removed and now we had a PVE event to re-introduce a PVP activity.

So now we have a season which is primarily focused on PVP, no complaints there I don't mind the PVP when the connections are good and you get a match that is cheater free, but this whole season is a waste for people who do not enter PVP.

Now you would think that this being a season primarily aimed at PVP that Bungie would have done something about the servers/networking/anti-cheat but no they literally did nothing, they claim to have worked on it but well just read the forums about the complaints from people regarding Lag, Error Codes and cheaters which I am not just talking about people using Aimbot's and Wallhacks, I am talking about people using net limiters to increase there ping so high that they lag all over the place when you start shooting them and then once they kill you suddenly they have no issues with there connection until you start shooting them again.

People were concerned about the level of cheating on the PC and it's certainly not any better now than before "Season Of The Error Codes" launched, in fact it's worse because Bungie decided to make "Trials Of Osiris" free for all players so even those playing the Free To Play version of the game can play it, and whilst that may seem a good idea, all it's doing is giving people who develop the cheats for this game free reign to develop them with no punishment other than spending 2 minutes creating a new steam account if they happen to get banned.

So this "Season Of Error Codes" not only has the PVP aspect but it has a little PVE activity in the form of the "Warsat Bunkers" which are basically just run a mission each day, turn in bounties and upgrade the bunker that is it, and a activity similar to Escalation Protocol.

The story for this season, well the Cabal the enemy from the main campaign are going to crash a big ship in to the "New Tower" oh no what ever will we do? I know let's run around a throw balls at a town to build satellites! LOL funny but true!

There is no story missions just cut scenes, this season will end with us creating the satellites to blow up the ship and then it will be dropped again.

Once you can get over the networking issues which will NEVER be fixed, and if you can get over being blocked and black listed if you ever say anything negative about the game, and you can get past the lack of anti cheat software the game as I say can be fun.

Just don't take it to seriously because let's face it, because it cannot be taken seriously Bungie breaks the weapon and armour systems with each DLC, they refuse to fix major issues or acknowledge them but then introduce some fun modes and game play mechanics.

Running around and shooting aliens is always fun but I often think what could this game be with a development team behind it who actually care about the game more than Bungie do.

So why do I recommend the game with all that text above, well despite Bungie not fixing the networking issues that have plagued the game since day 1 and many of the other issues, the game is still fun to play and still worth trying just make sure you are happy with it before you decide to spend on money on it.

Early Access Review
***EDIT***

Ok so I will leave my initial review below, however I am going to add to it here at the top.

So when I installed it at first it ran like garbage, and was it was difficult to spot people or even hit them, a friend told me to install Reshade to make it look better and make it easier to spot people so I did.

After installing that the performance got worse so I got rid of it, but the performance didn't improve and all the issues that were present with it on were still present.

I finally had enough one day and uninstalled the game and basically wrote the review below and that review is still fairly accurate on how I feel, and believe the game is currently in this state however there is a difference.

I was speaking to someone who had recently bought the game and they had tried Reshade and said they was getting nearly all the issues I was getting, and even taking of Reshade didn't change anything so what they did was uninstall the game and remove any trace of it from there pc and suddenly the game was miles better.

I thought I will give that a try so I deleted everything from my pc related to this game and Reshade and low and behold the game was 10x better although, still suffering from FPS drops, Lag and cheaters.

Then over the last two days the game has got even better, I don't know if it's because the devs have issued a patch and not included some fixes in the patch notes or what but it's so much better, I can actually enjoy playing it and stand a chance when fighting people now as bullets generally register all the time, there are instances where they don't but that I feel is just down to me firing the weapons, to quickly to cause them to loose accuracy.

I still cannot recommend this game to anyone, because it's still got alot of issues in it but if you do decide to buy it or even have bought it and run in to performance issues then try the above especially if you run Reshade.

This game is an absolute joke! UNINSTALLED!!

From poor optimisations, massive networking issues to no anti cheat software you would get more enjoyment out of paying to watch a sci-fi (not spelling how it's stupidly spelt now) channel rip off, of a hollywood film.

Now I know it's early access and there are other games that have been in early access for longer and have issues but most of them do not have developers that are more, interested in nickle and diming it's player base instead of fixing glaring issues that should have been resolved before it even hit early access.

The performance on my system was horrible, I7 7700K, 32Gb 2400Mhz, GTX980Ti, 512Gb SSD and all running at stock out of the box speeds with latest drivers, it's performance at 1080p was usually in the 80fps at Ultra but with massive drops to 10fps quite often, at Very Low it was in the 120fps marks with drops to 25fps quite often, games such as Battlefield 4, Crysis 3 and many more all run maxed out at 1080p Ultra stable 60fps and above but this cannot even manage a stable, 60fps or hell even 30fps.

The networking is even worse, 200Mbp/s download 20Mbp/s upload and playing on the EU servers felt like playing with a ping of over 200ms, other games rock solid low 10ms to 40ms ping and when playing on US servers a ping of around 120ms, this on US servers easily over 400ms unplayable, from doors that don't open after pressing to open them, to teleporting in to buildings after leaving them or vice versa, and even to landing and then suddenly being back in the air.

The hit detection is also a major issue, this morning I played a few solo games and me and one other player were trading shot's at each other, they had a Micro Uzi, I had a Scar with Red Dot and not a single shot registered but all the shots they fired registered including around corners and through wall's.

I played another where me and another player were trading shot's at each other, that player hit me twice with a 9mm pistol I died, this was after hitting them over 10 times with a M416 and I know I hit them because I saw the blood splatter from it.

Then a friend came on and we were playing Duo's, we both shot at a person me using an AKM and my friend using an Ump from around 20m away, I hit them 4 times my friend hit them twice they didn't get knocked, I got hit once in the head from a AKM and was knocked instantly that was whilst wearing a L3 Helmet, then they killed my friend with a single bullet through a L2 Helmet.

Getting in to fist fights as well sometimes you will have no issues, but the majority of times you can punch or superman punch, where you jump up and click to punch and none of them will do damage even though you get the sound of them hitting the player.

The cheaters in this game are almost as bad as a Call Of Duty game, you have people who are invisible punching you to death with one hit, you have people who can shoot through buildings etc and then you have people messing with the .ini file to give them an advantage.

This game could be really good, but it needs to be handed over to a developer with the skill's and resources to put in to it to get it to where it should be, because from what I have seen in this game from this developer I have no interest in any of there games in the future.

I love the idea, I loved the randomness of looting etc and I enjoyed playing it when it seemed as if the issues were not present but, since 99% of the times the issues are present I am not willing to play it anymore.

I will try it again when or if it comes out of early access but until then, it can stay uninstalled and I will go play something else.
