Uh where do I start?

Main criticisms is gonna be how this game has hit-stun, knock-back and no invincibility frames which makes it horrendous to play as an ARPG. My guess as to why, is the devs couldn't decide if they wanted to make a bullet hell or ARPG so they tried to combine them in an awful way; because even as a bullet hell, the game has RNG elements with item pick ups and bullet spread not to mention that the slanted camera angle that makes it a challenge to determine where your hit-box even is in relation to the bullets.

I've managed to 100% the game, most of the challenge is just from trial and error because many of attacks thrown at you need to be dodged preemptively before they're even on screen so you can't really learn and play because you'll die if you don't know the oncoming section. On another note the points and shop system is way too grindy, many characters require thousands of points to max out abilities while missions only provide a few hundred for each completion, this just results in repeatedly killing bosses for hours to make your characters better.

Overall if you looking for a bullet hell experience, I'd recommend just playing the official Touhou games, same goes for ARPG's because there are much better ones on the market. I would only recommend this one if you wanna play bullet hell disguised as an ARPG.

Oh yeah also the dlc is stupid, as the amount of character packs is equal to the cost of the game and most of the characters in the packs are met throughout the game as you play, so rather than being unlocks they're behind a paywall...

hd edition sucks it missing like 3 dlc from the original game, i got this as a gift get the GOG verison instead

Found this game through an anime profile picture that my friend had no idea who the character was from.
Was pleasantly surprised when I played this gem of a game, it's like a mix between battleship and chess.
I've 100% the game and it was very much worth every second I put into it.

Very good if you both like battleship and chess.
Caverns took me days to complete, but was very worth it.
Got the game in 2015, small brain couldn't think tanks, came back in 2022 and 100% the game.
