The game teaches a very important lesson: Those exploited by capitalism can only escape it's grasp by exploiting others. After being unjustly brought into immense amounts of debt the main character Recette has no recourse to pay it off other than overcharging customers for useless garbage and exploiting lowly adventurers for their labor-power. Recettes only escape from the fairy kulak is to become a kulak herself.

Once the revolution comes to their world, as communism is inevitable and the right side of history, should she be exonerated for her crimes, seeing as she was coerced to do so by the capitalist strongmen looking to collect on debt? These are the deep philosophical questions that this game makes you ponder.

One might think this game is capitalist propaganda since it humanizes a kulak like Recette, but rather by showing us her positive sides it simply reminds us revolutionary brethen that we mustn't allow ourselves to become as savage as the barons of capital we seek to replace, unlike them we want to avoid the use of force whenever possible.

To me, we must always remember that the revolution seeks to destroy the coercive structure of capitalism, and not people. As long as Recette willingly parts with her wealth and means of production, there is no reason to use force to take it. Recette's good nature shows that she and others can yet be turned into goodly, moral comrades who labor for the good of all.

The combat is boring as sin but Bethesda perfected the carrot on a stick design with this one.

Theres always a landmark right around the corner, a chest, a new spell, a level up, a new quest, materials you can use in crafting, etc. I'd say that the game rewards you with something new that leads into something else like every 3 minutes or so and it just never stops.

It ends up hitting on that same feeling Civilization does with the just one more turn mentality where theres a bunch of things you can achieve that are just sligthly out of reach and that you can get to in a few more minutes of gameplay before you get there and the next thing is right around the corner too. It's very gratifying to see your character build up incrementally like that and to explore the world.

This all works wonderfully for the first 40 hours of gameplay or so but eventually it all comes crashing down and you start questioning why are you even so excited for the next tier of smithing so you can get ebony armor or whatever when the core gameplay is boring anyway and you shelve the game for a few months until you get the itch to play it again and you make a fresh character to experience that initial wonderment again.

It's the kind of game where you binge it for a week, get bored, then stop playing it for a year before binging on it again.

I dislike cars and am apathetic towards football but the combination of both is actually pretty good, as it turns out.

This game is very suspenseful and actually makes you terrified of all the aliens you encounter.

Because of the shooting mechanics that allow enemies to shoot you in your own turn if you get into their line of sight its entirely possible to have everyone die in your first mission without actually seeing a single alien cause they one-shot all your dudes from off-screen as soon as you exit your ship, that's how it went when I first played this way back in the day as a dumbass kid. Then you actually learn some game mechanics and come face to face with the aliens that destroyed you and it's just some grey fat kids with laser blasters but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ those are the most terrifying grey fat kids in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ universe and it only gets worse from here.

The game doesn't tell you anything about how to proceed and if you go in blind this process will repeat for every new alien race you encounter. I don't think theres anything quite as tense in gaming as your first mutton or chrysalid mission.

All your guys sport the Guile haircut, good choice.

Top-tier waifus left, right and center. A couple of really good cards aren't waifus but instead dragons or something but you can just play the waifu cards and lose instead, some of the heroes aren't waifus but you can buy packs to replace them with waifus (or packs to replace the default waifus with dudes, but c'mon who does that),

A true sandbox medieval warfare experience.

You can be a easy-mode normie who becomes a noble, ingratiates themselves to some lowly king and receives a title and parcel of land so you can get wealth to build up your troops and create your own fiefdom.

You might even start off with that strat then rebel from your king and destroy him, then conquer the rest of the continent and create your own glorious empire.

But true players start out as a female peasant and lead a glorious peasant revolution against the monarchies of the realm, destroy them utterly as they spit insults at your lack of noble blood and femaleness while you just laugh and crush them underfoot for the glory of the Calradian People's Republic. See migthy knights get their skulls cracked by your humble macemen, personally walk into battle with the biggest sword known to mankind and kill 100 of the enemy on your own. They will get angry at you and say you have no right to rule and you will say that truthfully you do not rule, the people now rule themselves, and no longer have need for petty kings.

Basically the game is really open and let's you play it in whatever dumb way you want to, it doesn't give you a right path to follow, there's easier paths and harder paths but you can do whatever you want.

Very fun, can get a bit repetitive if you sink tons of hours into it all at once.

The difficulty levels are perfectly calibrated to give experiences that are enjoyable for all kinds of players. Whether you want a mindless slaughter where you just get to shoot hundreds of zombies for 20 minutes with cool guns and not think about it too much or a really tactical experience where you need team coordination and a fair amount of personal skill to survive or anywhere in between those two extremes, this game got you.
