DO NOT PURCHASE - THIS PRODUCT IS A SCAM.

The game does not function as a base product without extensive time wasted downloading mods just to get the game to launch in the first place.

Steam refuses to remedy the situation either through providing a refund or through requiring the company responsible to repair the broken state of the game.

A fun and interesting game for passing the time. It becomes somewhat repetitive once you've played all the current modes. If the developers look to add more features, I am sure it could improve significantly.

Seemingly similar in fashion to every other game that crops up spawned by a niche fandom I can think of, but the following sums up the experience fairly nicely:

  • Not friendly at all to new players or those unfamiliar with the SCP universe. This is a game you will only really enjoy from the start if you're familiar with the SCP universe - it is not tailored to a general audience.
  • At least starting out, for every hour you spend playing the game you'll probably spend 30-45 minutes of it in spectator. It's far too easy for new players to become confused as to the layout of a given map or their exact objective. Expect to die within the first 5-10 minutes of gameplay every round unless you spawn as an SCP.
  • This game is best experienced with the voice chat disabled entirely. It seems to attract an inordinately large audience of loud, obnoxious children similar in fashion to Garry's Mod servers that share the same function.
  • When you do finally get the base game mechanics mastered, at best the experience becomes tedious. There is no variation in objective or process, the game is 100% the same every round, and the experience is not nearly unique enough to justify multiple playthroughs. When you've won one match, you've won them all.

What can I say? It's a fan game. It is not appealing to people in a general audience, and as a game it is okay at best.

Don't bother. The game crashes all the time and no solution will fix it, company refuses to provide a fix as well. Steam will not refund you the price of the game either. Waste of money.

Classic example of a cashgrab early access game. I haven't seen an update to the game in ages, and as it is it's hardly playable. Definitely do not recommend a buy for a game whose popularity surged and fizzled out thanks to a random Let's Play done of it.

A very interesting and challenging game with puzzles and battles that are won or lost depending on the determination and resolve of the player. Alongside the standard gaming experience, CrossCode also offers a deep and rich lore for players wishing to immerse themselves in the game's story. By the time you fully invest yourself in the game and feel like you can't get much more out of it, it continues to give.

It is also my belief that CrossCode is one of the few Early Access games to be worthy of a purchase, no scam to be found here -- only a solid gameplay experience with hours upon hours of fun to be had by all!

A very entertaining and fulfilling experience the last time I played. I continue to check on this product, and it seems to me that the developers are continuing to put work into this product, which is reassuring. Definitely worth the money so far.

A truly interesting and immesive experience for those looking for that 1984, invasive and ever-present governmental feeling from a game. While it provides interesting story and compelling characters, the actual gameplay is severely limited.

Pros:
  • Immersive experience
  • Interesting story with twists and turns
  • Drives you to truly care about the characters involved

Cons:
  • Gameplay severely limited, involves mostly reading and following a story
  • One comes to the conclusion that the choices one makes are pointless until the very end of the story; you could watch a YouTuber play it and get the same experience as if you had bought it yourself
  • Depending on who you are, the price might not be worth it

TL;DR: An interesting story + characters, but falls short on gameplay and leaves one disappointed at the end, where it becomes apparent that no choices truly matter until the very end.

I would definitely recommend this game to anyone, casual gamers or otherwise. The game takes a direction that is immersive rather than ridiculous. You find yourself drawn into the story of the characters you lead rather than led on through a boring point and shoot hallway simulator.

A much more interesting take on prison environment than Prison Tycoon, Prison Architect takes all of the aspects one would expect to be involved in both building and maintaining a prison, and mashes them all together in a neat top-down strategy game for all to enjoy. For a game still locked in its Alpha stages, it has shown to me immense potential simply as that, an Alpha. It is an amazing game already, and for them to say "we aren't finished, there is more to come!" is astounding.

Beyond that, the team behind the game introduces a very strong sense of community, offering a number of rewards based on how much you contribute to the game, up to and including being able to design some of the main characters for the future full release, and even including your own, personalized character in-game.

I would definitely recommend this game even to people who are not exactly complete fans of strategy games, as it has a hint of roleplaying in it as well!
