EDIT: Update 28, Hotfix 8 increased movement speed across the board (for players and enemies). This was enough to restore game flow/fluidity without (thankfully) making the game any easier and prevent this game feeling like a slog (which they themselves admitted they felt it was with slower sprint speeds.

I now love this game again. It feels finished and it’s not even out of Early Access.

Definitely buy this game and we’ll see you on Hoxxes IV, miner.

I used to love the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game and it was at one point the best purchase I've ever made on Steam hands-down, but after Update 28, I can no longer recommend this game:

The gutted perks (it’s not about Iron Will at all), the performance issues, the slow AF movement speed feels like a slog and prevents you from entering a flow state while playing.

Don't buy right now, wait and see what they do for the 1.0 release. I'll update the review if it ever becomes worth it again.

@Maroliver, there are definitely some elitist players in this game now. There’s a large number of them coming from games like Payday and Warhammer: Vermintide 2 which is where the perk and game difficulty elitism comes from (Hazard 4 = Legend, Hazard 5 = Cataclysm) respectively.

I honestly don’t think the competitive attitude has a place in this game outside of the Miners Union Chapters.

The hardest pet with the elitism is that even the moderators/officers join in bashing green beards; Dwarfurious specifically I’ve seen calling green beards stupid on bunker threads that are themselves bashing threads against other players. A player called Nightwolf is the worst culprit in this with multiple bashing posts. Just insta-kick people like that when you see them; “Sorry I have my reasons”.

Other than those bad apples on the discussion boards, I’ve had an overall really good experience with the Deep Rock Galactic community. :pickax::nitra::chug:

Also the community is terrible. See the forums for examples. Anyone who raises any legitimate concerns or doubts about the game will be trolled into oblivion and abused by the moderators. Even the devs will troll and harass people who doubt the game. Then they will ban you because you dissented. However, the same usual fanboy suspects are allowed to troll, demean, and harass people. I haven't played since they broke the pickaxe and apparently the game is getting worse. Screw the developers of this game and screw its awful community.
