I've always considered Dragon Ball Fighterz to be the best Dragon Ball game ever due to it being very faithful to the manga/anime, having a very beautiful 2.5D artstyle straight out of the anime with scenes that produce a lot of callbacks and fan service (dramatic finishers and intro's) and being accessible but complex enough to put hundreds of hours in. It is therefore crucial to compare Sparking! Zero to Fighterz:

Sparking! Zero has the same pros as Fighterz while improving on, now outdated, Fighterz mechanics.
The main gripe I had with Fighterz is that there weren't many transformations you could do (outside of cutscenes/finishers and the sole exception being Frieza with his golden form). This while I and many consider transformations to be the core of Dragon Ball (Goku going Super Saiyan for the first time being an enormously memorable moment).
Sparking! Zero improves in this area by allowing transformations (and fusions!) mid combat. It is very cool to be able to play Gohan and your opponent being Broly (S) and feeling weak at first but after you transform you actually feel motivated to fight harder and beat your opponent, even if they transform into the Legendary Super Saiyan.

The other gripe I had with Fighterz is the amount of and the destruction of stages. In Fighterz we've had only 1 extra stage that was quickly added after release, bringing the total to 14 stages. This amount is even lower when you realize that some of these stages are variations of each other. The true unique count of stages is 11. Sparking! Zero has 12 maps on release with more being hopefully added in the future. While this is on the low side, we need to realise that the stages are enormous and actually have destruction and weather/time effects built into them. They look beautiful and are actually impacted by your fighting. Fighterz had a small a destruction, and you could push your opponent to a different stage which was pretty cool, but nothing on this scale.

Sparking! Zero might be a genuine contender for the throne that I totally recommend.

selling it to customers that can't make a PSN-account and then taking the game away from them is shady

the discord moderators/community managers are very unprofessional and throw temper tantrums constantly if you question or criticize
