As a tokusatsu fan, Chroma Squad is amazing.
I was worried that, much like many other Power Rangers inspired media, this game would be ashamed of it's roots. Making fun of the source with a "look how stupid this is" attitude.
That is certainly not the case. Chroma Squad is very self aware, but is a celebration of the genre! It's light hearted, tongue-in-cheek humour, and most importantly: fun.

The gameplay may be basic when compared to other tactics based RPGs however the dressing (for lack of a better word) more than makes it up. Perhaps I am biased, but the idea of running my own Sentai production company, with control over the costumes and props, and studio, and marketing etc. coupled with the absolutely charm of the writing... I can't describe how happy it made me.

I feel exteremely bad for waiting this long to pick up this game, and through a humble bundle no less. The developers of this game deserve full compensation for doing such a magnificent job.

I don't think you NEED to be a tokusatsu fan to enjoy this game. The writing makes it very accessible. But if you are a fan, or have knowledge of the subject, there are a ton of little nods and easter eggs to be found.
