After 1500 hours in the game, today is the day I finally decide to quit.
Every single update that has ever hit this game, showed how bad the coding behind it really is.
Every single update that has hit this game, brought back same exploits that people are gladly using, one of them being duping. In a player driven economy, duping is pretty huge.
Most of the players that duped, were banned for 24 hours to 3 days.
There has not been an update to the game in 6 months that would make you think positive about it.
The only update I hoped would be taken seriously, and that was even named "quality of life update" completely broke the pvp stage, making reactive pvp useless, because of queued spells that trigger improperly plus the game desync that will never be fixed.
A random player might think that the game desync is fixable, but it's not. Every game action goes through a set of filters from their cheat engine, and those filters will never be removed, also those filters are probably responsible for the desync.
I had my fair share of fun by building an amazing community on the servers that i played and that were merged, bringing in positive vibes that were embraced by most.
That was ruined as well by the devs decisions of allowing server transfers, and griefing companies would come to our server just to f**k that up with toxic attitude and toxic gameplay.
It feels bad leaving the people I've met in this game, but at the same time, it feels refreshing to quit the game itself.

Additional review after 1500 more hours:
Because of the awesome community that we've built, I stuck around for 1500 more hours, but I've quit the game 2-3 weeks ago.
The game itself, is the most horrible experience I've had with a game that I've heavily invested time in.
I'll always use H1Z1 (Just Survive) as a comparison because H1Z1 is the biggest example of how a potential succesful game can die because of insane bad dev decision.
New World is the first game that managed to do worse than that.
Don't get distracted by upcoming content, they have a team that works on adding content.
But there's no team on bug fixing, and even if it was one, it never fixed anything, and it wouldn't be able to keep up anyway. Simple bug fixes that were in the game since beta, are still here 1 year after.
There is no reactive gameplay because desync is so bad that it makes you wanna break your computer even if you're the most calm and logical human being in the world and you know your pc has no fault nor will it help you smash it, you might still end up doing it if you even dare to try to be competitive.
Every decision made by the devs is looking like they're lowkey trying to kill the game themselves so they don't have to deal with their higher-ups demands and finally have an excuse to get themselves fired or start another project.
Stay away from this game.

The mark of shame attached to Daybreak is bigger than the company itself. These guys have the ultimate recipe for disaster that no one managed to accomplish so far in gaming history, but them. And it's a well deserved shame. I don't know what happened when Sony became Daybreak internally, but the decisions they made with H1Z1 after were the most stupid ever. Just Survive and the Battle Royale mod were supposed to come free, yet they split the games and doubled the game price. Even if games were split on paper, you would feel they were lying, as every Battle Royale update would crash the Just Survive game as well. They used Just Survive as a cash cow and most of us were fine with it if they would just fix some old ♥♥♥ bugs and deal more with cheaters. All we asked for. Instead their updates would be more cashing oriented and bringing more bugs, making the early version of Just Survive (while company name was still Sony) looking like a perfect release. And as if that wasn't enough, they decided to close the game, after they milked they ♥♥♥♥ out of it. And I called it, way before it happened. Give us back the early stages of the early access H1Z1, the survival game. There will be some redemption in that.

I played the game for a few hours. I feel like I got to see only 20% of what the game has to offer, so I'm excited. I'm an old H1Z1 Just Survive player. The early version H1Z1 before battle royale was a thing, was my cup of tea. The game I loved and played the most. SCUM's environment is very similar and I love it. If I had to do a review about SCUM in a few words, I'd say it's a great combination of PUBG (with way more complexity) and H1Z1 survival (again 20 times more complex, which is a very good thing to me). I played a lot of early access games so I'm okay with glitches and bugs as long as the devs work to repair the groundbreaking one like if there was a "get inside someone's base glitch", that should be first priority. But in my little time here, I was very impressed with where the game stands and I will take my time enjoying it. Did 2 sniper kills. Felt godly! Can't wait to learn the base building and raiding part, and if base building is not complex, that works for me too, simple is good, finding smart ways to build with simple base building which puts your mind to test is what i favour too. H1 base building was the same, pretty simple. But using a bit of math and trying hard, you could align some tampers and interconnect them which made your base very unique if you did it right. If the game has cheaters, that should be worked on asap. Cheaters bring any game to ruin and they're everywhere, so that's that. Now back to learning the game! Have fun guys!

I will just spell it out as simple as it is. Or complicate it a little bit :P. Game has potential and they fixed quite a few problems from the start, but in a sluggish manner. Me, I've been a player of H1Z1 before they split the game apart. I know how a game can have an enormous potential to be in the top of the market but be ruined by devs. And starting now, I don't like these devs proceed with patch notes saying they fixed something when they obviously don't. We all remember the fatal error (that we still get from time to time even though theoretically it's completely fixed). They had patch number 1 to patch number 10 saying they fixed the fatal error (and they were all addressing to the same fatal error bug, not multiple ones). Maybe that was hard to fix. But in yesterday's patch, they said they fixed the XP bar which is 9 million by mistake from lvl 58 to 59. Well guess what, I just made lvl 58, and the XP bar is still 9 million. This isn't hard to fix, just my guess, yet they put it in the patch note as fix and they didn't fix it. Just for that, you have a "No". Just until you prove me that I was in the wrong with my assumptions that you will keep going on like this.

Avoid this game at all costs, Daybreak ruined this game the moment they touched it after buying it from Sony. From what would become free-to-play, they made it double the price, the game doesn't look split as they announced, since at every Kotk update, the JS server drops dead also and viceversa. They're good at lying and making profit out of it. From that and from the crates, which are mostly the only things they've done since it's a source of profit. JS will die soon, they're just forcing out some more milked money with a few more crates and wipes since people tend to come and see what changed after a wipe. Kotk will probably last a little longer though.
Quite sad how such a fine work of art was ruined by a bad money-hungry company.
