If you are reading this, it probably means you're not sure you should give it a go. After these few lines, you will. (estimated reading time: 3 minutes)

There is none. The game isn't just free to install, it doesn't give you some sort of free trial up until you hit a paywall, having been teased enough to get you robbed of your precious hard earned money. No. All of it is accessible to you from day one...save for the mercenary faction which is only meant for very long time veterans who already were more loyal to themselves than their own faction, so to speak.

This game is unique. Many claim to be, but never has it been truer than for Planetside. Three factions fight for the control of four continents that set you in four different biomes, in a persistant war bringing the whole might and power of the different factions on the table, with epic clashes involving hundreds of players on foot, in armor and in the air...simulatenously. And there is not only the shooty-shooty aspect of the game that's important, far from it ! Strategy has a big place in the game relying on a proper use of basebuilding, logistics and combined arms tactics as well as resource flow, all of these elements if managed properly enable even the underdogs to have a chance to win against more seasoned players who only mastered the shooting part of the game. If you have already played a war game before, you must try this one, and if you haven't, this game is so complete that it will let you see which part of a war game you love most...for free.

Oh, how rude of you. It most definitely isn't, though noone would blame a newbie for thinking that as it can be quite confusing when you first dive into it. The base equipement you get is already excellent in many aspects. The weapons you see are unlocked to give more flavours to their gameplay and be more specialised in one. In the first levels, don't try to rush the frontline and make it move, just follow it and your more experienced buddies as a medic or an engineer. Supporting them will do wonders for them and your faction ;)

You can join a squad for that ! At your level, try to find a mentor squad. If the mentor does his job properly, that will speed up your understanding of the game and you will progress tenfold. And you can go even one step further and enlist in one of the many units out there. That will give you a tag, a nice shoulder and vehicle patch to display...and friends with whom you will spend many hours, perhaps even outside of the game !

An amazing community. You'll see much of everything here, but everyone shares the same passion for the game. You will meet toxic people, just like in every game. But for each toxic person you'll see, tens more will be the friendliest of people you'll ever see. You may even witness, if you're a bit lucky, instances of cross faction acts of kindness. Only here can you see this, and honestly, it's enough to make a grown man cry.

Now you can enjoy the game to the fullest ! You have taken every step for you to get started, you will find if you haven't already your favourite gameplay, and your newly found friends will give you a taste of many others you didn't even suspect. After all the runs, alerts and operations you will have with them, you may even get the chance to have access to the newly implemented Outfit Wars and step up on the competitive scene of Planetside and perhaps claim the title of best unit on Auraxis ! But until then, countless hours of fun and engaging gameplay await you to hone your skills so that one day you too will teach the ropes of the game to a new generation of players !
