Overall I have been content with the game as I had it thus far, but there were issues that I found frustrating such as the build limit being very small and certain crafting recipes being a pain to track down. Some elements of grind were trivialised (such as tier 1 essence grinding by disenchanting grass you can farm tons of easily) while other resources could feel impossible to find sometimes among the procedurally generated realms. Coming from day 1 release where I personally had a lot of performance issues initially that limited my enjoyment for the first month or so, I returned to the game to find these issues resolved.

That said, I still enjoyed my time with the game to this point, there were just certain aspects that stood out as less than ideal. And with the changes being presented in the Realms Rebuilt approaching, I have very high hopes for the game's future with how the developers are handling such a drastic overhaul to the game's story and mechanics, embracing the community's desire for larger build limits, refined inventory systems, a much easier progression system to follow, and so much more. I can understand some frustrations with a character wipe, but with a new story to experience and progress through, as well as the foresight by developers to allow players to download and still access their old characters in a legacy build; I for one am content with the need for a wipe and the measures taken to minimise the impact of legacy saves.

If you are on the fence with this game, wait for the Realms Rebuilt update (Sept 12th 2024) and then you should face no issues regarding a character wipe (And hopefully no more in the future, as the devs have stated they don't plan on it).
The game's aesthetic is top tier, and the gameplay is a well-refined survival crafting experience, with an optional story to follow, and enough variety in content to keep it pretty engaging - And I can only see that improving further with future updates in early access (And even if the game were to be abandoned after the Realms Rebuilt update, I think the product offered is still worth the purchase, in my opinion.)

It's fun, it's got good difficulty scaling, it has good in-game rewards, the best "battlepass" system (perma passes), premium currency can be found in missions, and it's fun.

Banger game, one of my favourite fighting games ever.
(Not really a "fighting game" like Tekken or Mortal Kombat though..)

Preordered back in 2017, enjoyed the hell out of the game on release, returned for the Downfall update; and still enjoy playing some 1v1s today. Unfortunately the community has dwindled to sub-100 players on Steam sometimes, which is a little sad - BUT the game servers are still up, and the people that are online are often looking for 1v1s, and are pretty fun people to play against who are always willing to run it back with you or teach you new things.

The key of the game is learning moves and combat styles that you can then use in a create-your-own fighting style deck system, where from the 4 positional stances you have, you can make same-stance strings, or alternate stance-changing moves, and have your deck flow however you have it set. A nice idea that has settled to be relatively enjoyable to play, akin to other fighting games in it's more deliberate care with frame data (Especially towards the final patch(es)). But the complexity can be overwhelming to use yourself, and overwhelming to deal with a powerful deck that opponents can use.

This leads to another major issue, that is: Onboarding - Conceptually, new players (Referred to in-game as "Lost Prospects") are to go through the PvE "story" environment, which is the same world everyone is in, but you're there for the first time to kick ass and become an "Absolver", and experienced players that have been around the block a while (and are already "Absolvers") are supposed to act as mentors to teach Lost Prospects (Which is also doubled down on with one of the only social systems, and one of the only other systems in the game: Schools, which I don't really feel a need to expand on since they're dead). The game is not fantastic at teaching you how the game works, i.e. how your class ability works, how armour moves work, how stamina drain works on blocks; from the obscure skill min-max'ing all the way to not telling you how to queue up for a 1v1 match (THE MAIN point of the game entirely after completing the "story).

Would highly recommend being in the Discord for the game (Check Reddit /r/absolver) to get info and find other players if the matchmaking is dead. I'd also highly recommend checking "other" sites for a cheaper key - While I'm more than happy with what I received for my £30 pre-order, with the development halted on the game, and the dwindling life essence it holds onto with low player counts, it's no question worth it for, say: ~£10-£15 imho.

Regardless of it's flaws that will, unfortunately, probably never be solved; I am beyond glad to have this game in my library, and beyond happy that Sloclap have done the bare minimum for this game by keeping it's servers running, keeping the community (albeit small) fighting, and delivered a finished product with tonnes of replay-ability akin to any other fighting game.

If you have any questions or queries about the game then please message me and I'll do my best to baptise you with my knowledge, and give you whatever resources you may need to enjoy this banger.

There are a few glaring issues with this game, but let me hit you with the: I don't care.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - A Divided Review

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has bloated features that have been thrown on-top, careless attempts at adding microtransactions, a subpar attempt to echo the original reboot's depth in story, and an overall more limiting feel on the RPG system to take a further back seat, while ACTION GAMEPLAY takes the wheel.

That said, I still enjoyed this game.
It's cyberpunk, for one, and a solid depiction of a well fleshed out cyberpunk world is something that can be more difficult to come by than you first realise. Speaking of a fleshed out world, Deus Ex *does* have that; and while the story seems a bit misguided from the start, especially if you've played Human Revolution, it turns out stuff did happen inbetween the games that are addressed in the mobile games (A poor choice made by Eidos/Square Enix in my opinion).

The setting, while looking fantastic, doesn't act out in the same way.
The dystopian setting of increasing prejudice towards augmented humans after the events of Human Revolution are essentially ignored and overlooked past a few cutscenes and indirect story-telling. You hear one thing about how big the divide is between pure humans and augmented humans, but see absolutely nothing to drive that information home, which leaves me divided in how to feel about it.
Games have a wonderful opportunity for a show-don't-tell approach to literally throwing in your face the reality of the world you're in, and that came across better through level design and small details laying around, but there are many places where you'd expect to see some rise in conflict or tension that seems to be lost as you run around solving mysteries in the name of progressing your playthrough.

This is realistically a minor set-back though, the world still looks great (Even in daytime, which is a good sign of success in cyberpunk dystopian settings), and you're rewarded for exploring levels and completing side-quests (some of which are very well written if I do say so myself, honestly give some of these side-quests a go, they're worth the time to complete).

Gunplay is fun. With a variety of weapons and mods that can be found through the world, and the options to take with them (i.e. stealth or big fatty BOOM BOOM killing mode) give enough variety to make playing this game more than once a viable choice.

Augments (From my memory) felt a bit watered down, I apologise for no specifics here it's been a while since I've played, but if I move you on from that mediocre level of game journalism, I can tell you that at least three augments are locked behind a DLC (The Tactical Pack DLC) which is pretty disappointing.

Speaking of disappointing DLC, I don't know how Square Enix decided it'd be a good idea, but they added a bunch of item packs for a single player experience game (???). I shouldn't need to explain how dumb it is that you pay an additional £3.99 for an assault rifle at level one, not only does this completely disregard any enemy scaling you had in mind, but it takes away from half the game which is managing the tools you find as rewards for exploring and doing quests, and utilising them effectively as you see fit, trying not to waste a tool you might need later, but also trying to use the reward you've earned yourself.

This, on top of Breach mode's rushed slap on top of the game, on top of the story not even being filled in for the player to begin with (Which is important both off the back of Human Revolution, if a new player hadn't played it, and just to fill players in on the events missed by sticking the story in mobile games less than 1% of the player base will have played - The main character is still Adam Jensen, and we shouldn't be having to piece together what this character has directly experienced.) feels like Square Enix really didn't care as much about this release, despite it's initial soft reboot being incredibly successful for what it is: The successor of what is referred to as "One of the best games of all time" by many.

Despite these glaring flaws, the game is still fun.
Combat is fun, stealth is fun, the lore and world-building is there in places if you stare hard enough, but most importantly in my mind: The Deus Ex is there, just about. The dialogue, the world, the characters.
And it's theme isn't taking a back seat, despite not being at it's fullest potential, it's still a good game and deserves credit for what it does very right, but Eidos and Square Enix need to take the time to ensure that their successes aren't overshadowed by cut corners or greed.

Many thanks if you read through this to the end, my formatting sucks and I'm too lazy to put that much effort into formatting a Steam review, but hopefully my language and structure upheld this read for you.

I review anime too, if you're interested you can go to my anilist[anilist.co].

Take care, drink water, love you

Played the game since beta, and the game has only improved since it's initial release many years ago.

Despite reoccurring issues and bugs coming up from time to time, and more than your standard handful of cheaters being fought en mass by Ubisoft in conjunction with BattleEye; the game is still a solid 5v5 competitive game, the art team do amazing work with the constant cosmetics being put in the game week in and week out (even if some designs certainly don't fit the battlefield) - The team behind the game are dedicated to making a solid game, with good foundations for a thriving esports scene, and have brought what was once an overhyped concept presented at an E3-turned-huge steaming ♥♥♥♥ pile of a game, into something that is much more than that, and a unique experience that struggles to be matched by many other games.

It's not a hard concept to grasp, but driving around on a mini-scooter with miniguns, while your evac chopper plays "Take on me" out of megaphones to scare the enemy, it's not hard to get how great that is.
