I normally don't leave reviews but let me explain the negative review.

This game is only good if you have friends who also want to play it with you. Otherwise it feels like a minecraft clone grindfest. I REALLY REALLY do like the concept of everyone being in the same "universe" with the ability to create portals to other player worlds. That is the one thing I dislike about minecraft - you have all these different servers but if you put in 30 hours in one server - you have to start from scratch on another.

For me this game feels almost like hitting the wrong note in a song. I just don't enjoy playing this game. Minecraft has a nice balance between action and crafting/building. Where in minecraft you are free to craft at your speed - this game feels like digital boot camp "OH NOW BUILD THIS.....OK NOW BUILD THIS GO GO GO" and you are not even sure why you are crafting the stuff you are.

Early Access Review
Rec Room is easily one of the best games I've ever played. My rating isn't based on graphics, music, sound or any other bad metric. I've played the original Zork to the modern day Deus Ex. While this game is simple and doesn't have complex mini games - the community of other people in the game easily make up for it.

I usually steer away from multi-player games personally due to lack of team play or just immaturity. But everyone who I have played with in this game or interacted with has been, for lack of a better word, normal. No 12 year olds screaming obscenities and the other players generally want to interact with you and each other. It feels very welcome for older and young generations.

There is no other game, that I know of, that offers causal games and the ability to meet new friends in a wholesome moderated envrionment.

I am a gamer so playing the game is natural to me but there should be a "guided mode" for new or younger players with tips that guide them through what to do. I have noticed when letting kids play this game they didn't quite know what to do - but they eventually figured it out.

Doesn't work on HTC Vive - if I do anything in VR it causes steamVR to crash. Doesn't anyone test software anymore?

It's quirky and different. For all the effort that went into this "game" it was well worth the $5.

Evoland is actually pretty amazing for what it is. It tries to smash all sorts of genres that evolved over many years into a single game and is fairly successful. It is short, but if you bought a $10 game thinking you were getting a CoD length game then you should probably stick to your CoDs.

The gameplay was a mix of interesting/typical and the story was good. I think that most people's gripes with this game is that it was short and different. It was actually quite fun to hunt for the chests that would upgrade the gameplay from a 2D black and white game to full on 3D.
