Visually stunning. Every frame is a painting, basically. Wallpapers generator in the form of a game ^^

I simply cannot really recommend this game. It has been made with love, it looks cool, but with a runtime of 3h and a gameplay that was overstaying its welcome after just half the game... Yeah no. If you feel like getting a game similar than this ("walk to the right of the screen" type of game) but is actually good, go buy Inside or The Artful Escape. These at least get you something truly enjoyable!

Game is crashing at startup for me and many other people, and the developer doesn't seem to care or even keep contact with the playerbase to try to help.

I haven't played a lot. I couldn't.
I really wish I could like that game, but many (if not most) of the "puzzles" and situations in the game are solved through trial, error, death, repeat. Try again, get frustrated at the slow controls, die again, don't understand what is expected from you...

I had to look the solution of some of the really early puzzles on internet. And the solution was to knock down items that don't stand out the tiniest bit from the scenery, to be able to progress. Either you find that by mistake by jumping around everywhere in the hopes you'll stumble upon the solution (which is not a good game design), or you look it up on internet (not a good design decision either). And then, 10 seconds later (after that one puzzle I had to die so many times before looking the solution up), I die again from a monster that suddenly came out of a hole, without any warning, without anything showing that there might be a danger at that spot. It's just so infuriating.

It feels like it could be a very decent and nice puzzle platformer with a lovely art, cute story and good music design.
In the end, it's a frustrating game with bad design decisions that reward the player exploring by killing him without any warning. I didn't dare push through to see if the design of exploration mechanics got better further in the game. And that's a shame.
Really really annoying way of treating the player.

It seems Funcom should replace their whole team of designers and try to get out of the grindy-MMO era.

The game has a lot of nice ideas on paper, but it feels sadly outdated in its mechanics, where you have to grind for hours to be able to do something...
Maybe it's just not my type of game, but seeing other comments, it seems that I'm not the only one to feel that way. Too bad, it was promising!

It is indeed a short game. Played it full through GOG, then bought it here and playing it again.
It is a beautiful game, the gameplay is simple yet interesting, it's rewarding to keep the Okomotive running flawlessly and at full speed with obstacles and stuff.
The scenery is incredibly well made, the world around the character seems believable, and you can even see remnants of old life in places.
It's obvious that game is the product of the love of it's creators for video games.

If you want hectic and fast-paced action in a video game, then just pass that one, and go buy something else.
If you're there for a contemplative experience, relaxed and to be soaked in a beautiful world (everything is conveyed without any words, that's a feat!), then consider buying Far: Lone Sails.

And yes the price might deter some.
But let's face it: with the tough competition that exists for indie developers these days, you have to make a living out of it. And even with the fact that technology has become better, it is not faster that before to create a game, because people (you, me, all) expect the best quality, no bugs, a good story, photorealistic graphism, a tight narrative-driven-sandbox-all-you-can-eat-buffet mixed with the best gameplay ever.
You can't have everything, and cost of life has risen. So yeah, complain all you want, but I prefer giving a slightly overpriced 15€/$ to indie developers like Okomotive that creates a beautiful product coming from the heart rather than to a giant AAA multinational company that are making the same game for the 20th time.

I really want to like this game, as probably many others in the same situation than me.
But when hazards are hidden right behind decor (like pipes or buildings) and you have no way of rotating the camera to see what's hiding behind (since the game doesn't have a concept of camera movement), and thus dying because of that, this is frustrating beyond measure.
Being punished by the game like that, a way you can't have any control over, is really stupid. Losing hours of progress because of that really punishing and stupid save system feels really alienating. I litterally just ragequitted at that point, which never happens to me usually.

It's sad, because the game is pretty well balanced (even if finding so few saplings can sometimes feel strange... I mean, you're surrounded by trees, you have an hatchet, you can cut a small branch to make an arrow...And don't get me started on firewood... You could burn anything around you, so why need these stupid logs that are used for raft upgrades too...?) and it can get really rewarding when you figure out how to deal with the hazards around you...
The art style can be peculiar for some, it's rather simple and pretty to me.
Overall a nice game.

But that save system... urgh!

I can't understand how devs could think people would enjoy directing a horribly slow moving boy, with horribly long and slow boring cutscenes that you can't speed up... Feels like a very bad game out of the 80s, where players wouldn't be used to having responsive controls at all.
